Control PCs using cell phone using bluetooth

The Market Need In the post-PC era, the market for network-connected devices continues to grow at an enormous rate. While new classes of devices like smart cellular telephones, pagers, and PDAs proliferate, traditional consumer electronics including televisions, VC s, CD pla!ers, and game machines are also "ecoming smarter and gaining new capa"ilities. Whether these devices are new or #ust more powerful versions of e$isting products, all are "ecoming increasingl! interconnected across a network. %oda! there is a strong need for solutions which can make finest use of consumer electronic devices like cellular phones and pack the power of computer in it. &a! it "e a large enterprise or a huge network, user toda! wants the power to manage then through his cellular phone or PDA. 'one are the da!s where the ph!sical presence of the user was re(uired to control or manage an! device or computer. )ow there is a need for an application that will allow the user to access and control his computer or other devices from an! part of the world through his cellular phone when he is on the move. In the si$ !ears since *un+s introduction of the ,ava platform, ,ava technolog! has "ecome an essential component for getting work done on the network. With the advent of Personal ,ava, -m"edded ,ava, and other ,ava technologies, the "enefits of the ,ava platform are "eing e$tended to screen phones, set-top "o$es, and even deepl! em"edded devices. In order to provide compelling ,ava technolog! solutions for manufacturers "uilding devices across the spectrum from palmtops to desktops, *un introduced ,ava . Platform, -nterprise -dition /,.--0 software. Project Description %his pro#ect demonstrates how to control and access electronic devices like computer through cellular phone using ,AVA, 1ere the user will not onl! "e allowed to control the computer "ut also the applications running on it, this application can further "e e$tended to control an! kind of electronic device apart from computer. %he e$planation of this pro#ect is divided in to two parts namel! 2Present dilemma3 and 2%he solution3, the first part e$plains

the present functioning of the s!stem and the pro"lems in it, whereas the second part provides the solution for the pro"lems "! incorporating mo"ile in to it. Present dilemma If !our are giving an! PP% presentation then !ou have manuall! go to the PC or laptop and hit -nter ke! to go to ne$t slide, and arrow "uttons to move to previous or ne$t slides. 4r !ou should have someone sitting at !our computer to do this work on !our instructions. %his ma! lead to distraction to the presentation. Instead if there is a facilit! to do all this on !our mo"ile would "e great isn5t it6 *imilarl! if !ou and !our friends or famil! watching an! movie on !our laptop and !ou want pause, pla!, forward, "ackward the video or mute, increase or decrease the audio. &ake full screen or normal. All these !ou can do onl! going to the laptop manuall! and operating laptop. Instead if there is a facilit! to do all this on !our mo"ile would "e great isn5t it6 If !ou forgot to shutdown !our laptop or !ou sitting awa! from laptop watching movie and !ou want to shutdown or log off or restart laptop from where !ou are its not possi"le. The solution %he solution for the a"ove pro"lem will "e incorporating a &o"ile application wherein through !our cellular phone !ou will "e a"le to communicate with the remote machine via server and e$ecute the applications in it like controlling PP%, controlling media pla!er or shutdown the computer etc, as if !ou were ph!sicall! present in front of the computer. %he a"ove said solution can "e achieved "! using ,.-- on the cellular phone, which will send instructions to servlets at the server and there on the servlets will pass on the instructions to the particular computer using emote &ethod Invocation / &I0 and once the instructions are e$ecuted the remote machine will acknowledge the server a"out successful completion of instructions and in return the server will send a message to the cellular phone sa!ing the given task has "een completed successfull!. %he Cellular Phone will "e connected to the server in the network, thus taking the control over all the computers in the network and handing it over to the user to his convenience. In other words the cellular phone will "e transformed into mini mo"ile computer, so now the user can control an! computer in the network from an!where.

Applications %his application can "e used "! s!stem administrators to manage the s!stem through their cell phone even when the! are not ph!sicall! present. %he s!stem administrator through his cell phone can find out num"er of machines working, applications running on them and he can also open an! application on the machine or transfer files from one machine to another through his cell phone and he can also shutdown the machine. Project Category: This is fully Networked Project. It uses Tomcat Server. It uses J2EE which delivers the power and enefits of Java technolo!y to consumer and em edded devices. It includes fle"i le user interfaces# a ro ust security model# a road ran!e of uilt$in network protocols# and e"tensive support for networked and offline applications that can e downloaded dynamically. %pplications

Identification of needs' 7sername and Password s!stem can sometime "e known "! some person and he can access the s!stem. %he owner of the s!stem cannot stop him to access if he is far from the s!stem. %he user has to come near to the s!stem and start an application he wants.

Preliminary Investi!ation' Initiall! the users of the s!stem who t!ped 7sername and password were surve!ed and their pro"lems /a"ove listed pro"lems0 were known. %he compan! people were also surve!ed and even their pro"lems were known. 8ater the need was identified, overall o"#ectives were defined and at the end the outline area was identified.
