changes for sizes 7-11 and 10-2 in parentheses.

RED HEART Heart & Sole, 1(1,2) balls of 3940
Green Envy.
Susan Bates Double Pointed Knitting Needles: 2.25
mm [US 1].
Marker, yarn needle.
GAUGE: 28 sts = 4" (10 cm); 50 rows = 4" (10 cm) in
pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles
to obtain the gauge.
Special Stitches
Knit Increase Knit into the front and the back of the
next stitch (1 stitch increase).
WT = Wrap and Turn Slip next stitch as if to purl, bring
yarn to the front on right side rows and to the back on
wrong side rows, slip same stitch back to left needle
(wrap made); turn.
KW = Knit wrap Knit next stitch together with wrap;
turn.
PW = Purl wrap Purl next stitch together with wrap;
turn.
Knit Decrease Knit the next two stitches together as if
they were one stitch (1 stitch decrease).
SOCK (Make 2)
LEG
Cast on 35(42,49) sts evenly over double pointed
needles. Join, being careful that sts are not twisted, and
begin working in the round. Place marker for beginning
of round.
Round 1 (Right side): Knit around.
Rounds 2 and 3: Knit around.
Round 4: *K1, Yo, P1, P3 tog, P1, Yo, K1; repeat from *
around.
Repeat Rounds 1-4 for Leg until piece measures
approximately 3(4,5)" (9(11.5,14) cm) from cast on
edge.
Next Round: Knit around increasing 1(0,1) st: 36(42,50)
sts.
HEEL
Note: Arrange sts so that first 18(21,25) sts are on one
needle to work Heel. Heel is worked in Short rows.
Row 1 (Right side): Slip 1 as if to purl, K 16(19,23), WT.
Row 2: Slip 1 as if to purl, P 15(18,22), WT.
Row 3: Slip 1 as if to purl, K 14(17,21), WT.
Row 4: Slip 1 as if to purl, P 13(16,20), WT.

Row 5: Slip 1 as if to purl, K 12(15,19), WT.

Row 6: Slip 1 as if to purl, P 11(14,18), WT.
Row 7: Slip 1 as if to purl, K 10(13,17), WT.

TOE
Round 1 (Right side): (K4, K2 tog) around: 30(35,40)
sts.
Rounds 2-4: Knit around.
Round 5: (K3, K2 tog) around: 24(28,32) sts.
Rounds 6-8: Knit around.
Round 9: (K2, K2 tog) around: 18(21,24) sts.
Rounds 10-12: Knit around.
Round 13: (K1, K2 tog) around: 12(14,16) sts.
Rounds 14-16: Knit around.
Round 17: K2 tog around: 6(7,8) sts.
Cut yarn leaving a 12" (30.5 cm) end. Thread yarn
needle with end and weave through remaining stitches;
draw up firmly; fasten securely.
