RESOLUTIONS ARISING FROM THE FIRST UKAMBANI LEADERS FORUM ON DEVELOPMENT AND DEVOLUTION AT KEFRI IN KITUI COUNTY MARCH

28 TH, 2014 1. This Ukambani Counties Leaders forum on devolution and development is launched today and will be continuous. This is the first summit and its chairpersons will be on rational basis by the three Governors. The first chair for the 201 !201" will be #.$. %r. &ulius 'alombe( Governor( )itui County. 2. The development of the )on*a City which is located in 'akueni County at the border with 'achakos County will be supported. +. The water pro,ect with the pipe line from 'asin-a to )itui is an important pro,ect. .s water comes to )itui it will serve )itui and also be distributed to 'asin-a and /atta in 'achakos County. The prevailin- issue will be addressed so that the pro,ect proceeds ur-ently and water reaches our people. . The three Counties will e0chan-e ideas and resources to ensure the re-ion -rows very fast. ". Unity in Ukambani re-ion and especially of its leaders is essential if the re-ion is -oin- to develop. The Governors support the spirit of consultation and speakin- with one voice. 1ur people want development not empty politics and continuous bickerin-. 2. The three Counties will set up systems to ensure inte-rity and fi-ht corruption and to ensure all monies are used for benefit of 3ananchi only. .usterity measures will be taken to cut wasta-e and free more money for development. 4. This forum resolves to lobby for the tarmackin- of )ibwe*i 5 )itui 5 'win-i road that our residents have been promised since independence. 6. The Governors have been mandated to consult with the 7ational Government of #.$. 8resident Uhuru )enyatta to re9uest for more resources to Ukambani re-ion so that our people develop in a faster manner. They should also work to-ether to look for funds from all over the world to attract investors to the re-ion. :. The summit will ensure the e0ploitation of coal found in )itui County and that of other minerals in the three Counties is speeded up and the benefits trickle to the people of the re-ion.

10. The Governors and their Governments will work in consultation with professionals and leaders such as ;enators( '8s( 'C.s in their development pro-rams and in support of devolution. 11. The three Governors and their Governor officials personally and collectively apolo-i*e to other leaders and to the people for any wron- they mi-ht have committed a-ainst other leaders and 'wananchi. Likewise( all leaders in Ukambani should ask each other for for-iveness and work to-ether.
