INSTRUCTIONS: Read the novella Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and write an essay based on the instruction given below. Also submit a softcopy of your assignment to your lecturer. The deadline is Week 9. The novella has been explained as having two contradictory sides in its treatment of the African characters and land; one the one hand Conrad shows sympathy for the native Africans, and on the other, his fiction is also written from a Eurocentric point of view. Explain in about 1300-1500 words whether you agree or disagree with this view by providing details and quotations from the novella and from other sources. You must properly cite these sources using the APA writing style. Note: Do not write a synopsis of the story but deal directly with the issue being presented to you. Do not plagiarise. If you are caught plagiarizing only one (1) mark will be given.
