R32 (R cubed 2) Specifications and Data Sheet

This 2nd generation of products debuted in 1997, based on the same rugged proven technology as that of our R 3 (R cubed) 148 KHz family which first debuted in 1984. R cubed stands for Rapid, Robust and Reliable.

wiring)

Notes: Available in both 5vdc and 24vdc. Recommended and preferred is 24vdc for networking as power requirement is more forgiving in long cable runs (4.75vdc is all that is needed at each Smart Antenna for successful operation). 5vdc supplies tend to drop off sharply over even short distances, although 5vdc will provide 5% to 30% more read range. Ask to see a 5vdc read range chart. Regulated power supplies must be employed. Not available with Read Only 10 hex character Tag options. See Tag options on page 5.

Although 2-way communication is possible, TR stands for Transmitter and Receiver, and is designed to be interfaced to any of our serial Readers or network of Readers. BSR stands for Base Station Receiver and is intended to be interfaced to a COM port on your controller/PC. Designed to operate with MAC addresses with a distance of one mile non-line of sight and four miles line of sight, this product can save substantial wiring costs. A single BSR can manage thousands of TRs.

3. Special Readers and Hand Helds (continued) Model 7000E Series Reader Writer

125 KHz

Used by itself as a simple Serial peripheral, this Reader outputs standard RS232 or RS485. With an externally cabled Antenna, the Model 7000E can attain 25% to 50% more read range than our Smart Antennas. Advantage to the Model 7000E Reader versus Smart Antennas is the increased read range, see below chart. Disadvantage is lack of Tag speed, networking, minimum Antenna spacing requirements (due to interference) between Antennas and lack of industrial communication protocols. Smart Antennas overcome these disadvantages, at the loss of read range. Why? The entire Antenna housing for the Model 7000E contains a coil, whereas with Smart Antennas the Reader circuitry is integrated into the Antenna package, minimizing space for the Antenna coil.
