Hello to everybody,! Today Im happy to present the Idea of Team One for the Accenture Campus Challenge 2014.!

My name is Jens Kffer and Im part of the Team with Milad Rad, Valon Alija, Tanmaya Mahapatra and Christian Wirfs.! Our Idea for the Accenture Campus Challenge is settled in the electricity generating and distributive industry.! An existing problem for this industry is that the given data, which is supplied by many different providers like the own power plants, the consumers and various authorities, is not standardized and thus not readily without preparation. ! For example the incoming data has different time intervals. Some data is given in hourly sequences, others for every 15 minutes. Another example is that the data is given in different units like Watt, Megawatt or even Gigawatt. To make this huge amount of data usable for analyzations or predictions a lot of time and manpower is needed. Additionally the transformed data is usually project based, so only for a particular period or area. So if there is a data use for a different time this data has to be procured and prepared, before it is usable for the new request.!

So what's our idea. We want to program a software that helps the user to get the right data for a given problem out of a large database immediately and without the need of further preparation. The program should be constructed like that, that new variables, for example the population development of a region of the last 15 years or the development of the average electricity consumption is automatically calculated for different time intervals like 15 or 30 minutes or for a day, a week or a month. As well as for different geographical areas like the city of Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia or Germany It should have a evaluation function which shows the user the sum the average or other indicators which are need for interpreting the data.

So after the data has been fed into the program the program should be able to separate the data and make them available to any previously specified time interval or area. Our software makes it possible for the user to view historical data in a context as well as make predictions for different periods and geographical regions.

As a first step we will embed the variables weather, population development, power consumption and three to four different types of power generation like coal or gas and the renewable energy generation types wind and solar.

Thank you for listening to our Idea and if there are further questions, dont be shy to ask them.
