INTRODUCTION Water is a natural element essential to the development of life and human activities.

It is difficult to imagine any kind of activity that is not used in one way or another. 75 % of its surface covers our planet, but not all water is again fit for human use. The 97.5 % is salt water; the 2.5% resulting is fresh water distributed in lakes, rivers, streams and reservoirs. This small proportion is that we can use more easily. Water to meet different needs becomes a resource. But not all people have it. This happens for several reasons, among which may be mentioned the uneven natural distribution of water on Earth's surface. This inability leads to shortages, which has no natural causes alone, but also social. This allows us to say that there is a close relationship between the ability to supply and development, because the larger the development, the greater the ability to obtain and greater pollution. Humanity requires water in ever larger quantities for their activities. The increased water consumption is also due to increased agricultural irrigation practices, the great industrial development or the existence of consumer habits sometimes imply waste.

THE MOST THREATENED RESOURCE IN THE WORLD Pollution is the introduction of any pollutant, substance or form of energy that may cause any harm or imbalance, irreversible or not, in the initial medium. So that there is contamination, the pollutant will be in relative amounts sufficient to cause the imbalance. The causes of water pollution date back to the times of the industrial revolution, when man began to develop large companies were gradually polluting the waters of the rivers and seas. Very soon, this will become a worldwide problem that to date not been able to have a control over it. The pollutants are related to the population growth since these increase, causing contamination is greater. Pollutants for consistency, are classified into solid, liquid and gaseous. To contaminate is the action or effect of introducing materials or forms of energy, or inducing conditions on water that directly or indirectly involve an alteration damaging their quality in relation to their future use or environmental services. The contaminants are divided into: Chemical, biological and physical: The chemicals are those that alter the composition of the water and react with it. Physicists are those that do not react with water, but can damage life in the ecosystem. Biologics are organisms or microorganisms that are harmful or that are in excess (pests, such as water lilies, rapidly spreading). The main water pollutants are: Pathogen Organic Waste Inorganic Chemicals Inorganic Fertilizers Organic Compounds Sediments and Suspended Materials Radioactive Substances Thermal Pollution

They all come from a particular source and can cause respiratory and digestive diseases. It is necessary that man aware of the problem of water pollution. Today, water sources, rivers and seas - are disappearing unconscious action biggest polluter on the planet, man. In the future, the lack of water may result in a conflict between countries, and that despite the efforts of some NGOs such as Greenpeace to raise awareness among countries about the importance of conserving water, Mexico and Central American countries like Guatemala and African as Somalia, Kenya and Angola, have already started to have conflicts over water problem. According to Greenpeace, "Water is essential for life as we know it. Two thirds of the Earth is water; 70 % of our body is water, however, is the most threatened resource in the world ".

CONCLUSION If everyone had safe and clean water would prevent 80 % of diseases. Almost 2 million people, most developing countries have no access to water with a minimum level of security. We must preserve the few sources of water we have in our country. Avoid spraying all materials that might cause pollution, not only of rivers, lakes and streams, but also of seas. Government needs to adopt a water conservation policy, to ensure that our future generations will not lack water.
