The City of Fayetteville is seeking a Latent Print Examiner to perform difficult technical work in the collection, processing, comparison, analysis and identification of friction ridge impressions and the collection and preservation of crime scene evidence; to perform analysis of latent prints in connection with the investigation of crimes and provide technical guidance and training in latent print analysis. For a complete job description, click here: agency.governmentjobs.com/fayetteville/default.cfm Minimum Qualifications: Please Note: This is an entry level position; however, preference will be given to those with Latent Print Examiner experience and IAI Latent Print Examiner certification. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Two years of experience with a law enforcement agency or its equivalent in crime scene investigation and latent print processing. A person who performs work as a latent print examiner (LPE) as a part of his/her duties in another forensics position, may be considered if proof of the LPE experience adds up to the equivalent of two years of full time experience. Education: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college in Natural/Forensic Science, Criminal Justice or a related field. A Bachelors degree is preferred. Licensing and Certifications: Successful completion of the IAI LPE certification is required within 18 months meeting certification eligibility requirements. Must maintain certification thereafter. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Carolina driver's license. From time of closing, the hiring process is anticipated to last 3 weeks.
