Final Placement Programme (FPP): Guidelines for PGDM Batch (2012-14) Objectives and Purpose of this document:

18/11/2013

The purpose of this document is to lay down basic guidelines for the Final Placement Program (hereinafter called/abbreviated as FPP) for the second batch of Unitedworld School of Business (UWSB) students PGDM 2012-2014), at Ahmedabad Campus by both the local and national Career Services Division (hereinafter called/abbreviated as CSD).

It needs to be mentioned here that it is not obligatory on part of Unitedworld to provide jobs/placement to every student. It is clearly mentioned under the section on Final Placements in the current Unitedworld (UWSB) Rule Book Admission to a Program at Unitedworld does not automatically entitle a student to Placement. Unitedworld offers no guarantee, explicitly or implicitly for ensuring Placement of a student, on completion of a Program.

For the Fourth batch of PGDM program (2012-14), UWSB has offered multiple specializations (4 majors). FPP process commenced from November, 2013, with CSD contacting companies and will continue on a rolling basis till the end of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course and all exams. All Students need to send the final CV to their campus CSD in the prescribed 1 page format by November 19, 2013.

The primary task of CSD is to liaise between students and prospective employers. It is the objective of local CSD to bring as many organizations as possible to conduct on/off campus interviews to facilitate students getting jobs/placements. The local placement activities will be Executed campus wise thru local CSD Leadership (Campus Dean or PGD Program Head as applicable & local CSD team). Local CSD team is finally responsible for placements i.e. FPP as well as SIP. The national placement layer will be facilitated by central desk located in Kolkata campus in terms of intercampus co-ordination, processes & documents (templates, guidelines, and brochure) and support to other campus. However, the central team will not monitor and implement placement at any other campuses.

These guidelines mentioned below will make our processes clear and ensure smooth running of the FPP with fairness and transparency to achieve satisfaction among our stakeholders (students, recruiters, and UWSB).

Guidelines for the Final Placement Program (FPP) for PGDM Batch

1. All PGDM students are encouraged to prepare for the coming final placement process to improve their soft skills and subject matter knowledge, as recruiters assess both of them in some measure.

2. Students should treat FPP with utmost seriousness in terms of preparation, behavior and etiquette, dress code and overall ethical standards. No student will be allowed for grooming sessions, interview and/or interactive session/Guest lecture without proper dress code. Only formal dress code will be allowed in campus from September till the end of placement season. Any non-adherence should be treated strictly by not allowing the students in the campus.

3. Companies shall be requested to correspond only with CSD and then the final job offer letter/confirmation mail to CSD only and not to the student. CSD will inform the student. No student is allowed to correspond with companies once the companies have finalized their decisions, unless specifically directed to do so by the campus dean and the local CSD Head. Any student found attempting to correspond/negotiate directly with the recruiting companies, will be debarred from the placement process.

4. Based on requirements of corporate recruiters, students CVs will be forwarded to recruiters. Short listing will be based on requirements of the corporate recruiters (in such specific cases) and/or based on academic criterion (overall CGPA, domain CGPA) or any other criterion (employability scores, co-curricular activity which ensures better fitment), as may be deemed appropriate by CSD. Students will not get the option to select their companies for their CVs to be sent for FPP.

5. For all students across all specializations, the CGPA used for short listing is Min 5.5 CGPA at end of SEM II

6. Students will have to attend all selection processes if shortlisted. Students not attending the same without prior permission/approval from CSD department (applicable for exigencies only) will be out of the Placement process. In case a student wishes to opt out, they have to sign a log book kept in the placement department. This option can be exercised by students in two occasions only (Opting out Option after Short listing Name) during the FPP, after which it is mandatory to attend the selection process of a corporate if shortlisted.

7. Every student will be allowed to take up one job during FPP and then be out of placement process permanently. On receipt of the confirmation of the offer from the recruiting organization, the successful student shall be informed by CSD and will not be allowed to appear in the selection process of any other company.

8. Till the confirmed offer is available, all students will be deemed available for further short listing by CSD and job confirmation for them will be accepted on a first-cum -first -served basis.

9. If a student gets Pre-placement offer (PPO) i.e. an offer which is outside of FPP , he/she have to accept the offer but may keep it on hold (provided the company also agrees to it) while making only one more attempt of choice. Students would get 1 month for holding the PPO offer. In case a student gets a PPO and wants to exercise another choice, the Local CSD leadership will determine whether the option should be encouraged or not, keeping in mind parameters like salary, company, etc. Local CSD will guide the concerned student on available options. The decision of the Local CSD leadership (Campus Deans / local CSD team) will be final in this regard.

10. In the interests of the students who are unsuccessful in repeated 3 attempts appearances in final selection process, CSD department reserves the right to take them out of the FPP process for a temporary period and refer them for further grooming and confidence-building support. This will help students in getting back their confidence as well as give opportunity to the remaining students to appear for short listing/interviews.

11. Placements is always done as per recruiters need and considered pan-India. No request for any location constraint will be entertained. In case students have location constraints, the student will have to get that registered with CSD department before November 28, 2013. Any student having any location constraint will be considered out of placement process. However, they will continue to get location specific opportunities based on indication given by the respective recruiters.

12. Students desirous of pursuing FPP by the own initiative or planning to get into family business are encouraged to do so, subject to approval of Local CSD Leadership (Campus Deans/Local CSD team). Such students have to get themselves registered with C SD department that they are opting out of the Placement Process by November 28, 2013.

13. Local CSD team, under the guidance of campus Dean or PGDM Program head as applicable will form a student committee to support the placement process. A separate guideline on that will be issued. However, all students have to clearly understand that objective of the student committee will be to support the process and increase the reach of corporate connections only - members of the committee will not enjoy any special privilege or choice in terms of FPP process.

14. All the above guidelines for FPP (for general students) are indicative. Based on specific situations, decisions taken by the local CSD department under guidance and leadership of academic head of campus will be final and binding as maintaining long -term relationship with corporate and taking care of overall interest of student community in genera l will be given priority to individual specific issues.
