Flier
Description: Black and white flier to promote a Graduate Leadership Conference. Process: I started with four sketches and built on those. I changed a lot from my original design. The final design is completely different than my draft. I got rid of the bullet points I had and it made it look more like a flier than a list of information. I changed my title to be in the same area so there would be a better focal point and the gray and black add contrast. Message: My message is to inform about a leadership conference to those who want to become and learn to become more efficient leaders. Audience: My target audience is recent graduates or a student who will graduate soon. Top thing I learned: White space is good! Title Font Name & Category: Bernard MT Condensed - Modern Copy Font Name & Category: Corbel - Sans Serif

Business Card
Description: Business card using a matching logo and matching elements. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I started by making a logo on Illustrator. I used the shape tool to create the circles and triangles in the logo. I then used the pen tool to manipulate one of the circles to make it look like ice cream. I didnt want my ice cream scoop to be symmetrical so thats why the curves at the bottom are not exactly the same shape. Who has ever eaten an ice cream cone thats perfectly symmetrical? I then used the pathfinder tool to cut out the ice cream cone from the circle. When I pulled the ice cream cone out, I saw that I actually had two logos to work with. I was hoping that I could use that cut out ice cream cone somewhere in my other design. I made my business cards first. I started with by placing my logo on both sides. I decided that on the first side I would just have my logo and play around with white space. I did not like how the backside of my business card (the one with the contact info) looked vertical. I flipped it horizontal and I liked it a lot better. I then added my info and all the dots in different colors to give it a fun kind of feel. Programs/ Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Message: This logo is for my very own ice cram bar! When I think of ice cream I think of fun and delicious. So I tried to pick a color scheme and a logo that was playful but also made people want ice cream. Audience: The lovers of ice cream. Top Things Learned: How to use two different programs to create one piece. Color Scheme: Tetradic - teal, lime, brick, purple Title Font Name and Category: Chalkduster - Decorative Copy Font Name and Category: Imprint MT Shadow: Slab Serif

Letterhead

I then used the pathfinder tool to cut out the ice cream cone from the circle. When I pulled the ice cream cone out, I saw that I actually had two logos to work with. I was hoping that I could use that cut out ice cream cone somewhere in my other design. Then I started with my letterhead. I played around with where I wanted the logo and the information for a while but decided that it looked best at the top. I added repeating elements such as the dots and the logo. The watermark of the ice cream cone is the one I originally took out of the logo. Programs/ Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Message: This logo is for my very own ice cram bar! Event Add
Description: A color full bleed add to promote a dessert auction using Microsoft Word and scanner. Process: I began by scanning the berry image and cropping a bit of some of the side of the image. Using word, I added an effect to the picture so it would fade at the sides. After the picture was placed I used different sizes of boxes from Word to add repetition to the piece. I also used the red and the blue from the berries as the colors of the boxes to unify the piece. To add contrast, I used different shades of blue and different fonts for the title and the copy. For this project I used Microsoft word, Epson Scanner and PDF2JPG.net. Message: This fundraiser is to raise money for the senior center. I used a dessert auction, where you come with a dessert and leave with a different one as a way to raise money. I want my audience to see the picture and think about all the yummy desserts they get to see and auction for! Audience: Anyone in the community, and those who bake and have a sweet tooth. Montage
Description: This is an inspirational montage with the use of two pictures taken by my older sister of me and the use of a quote. Two different kinds of typography were used for this project. Process: In order to create this picture, I first had to find two pictures that I thought would go together. Once I found these images, I cropped the background picture, which is the one with the face and made sure that it was the size it needed to be. Then using the lasso tool, I cut out the part of the second image I wanted to use. After having these images placed on top of one another, I used the program photoshop and mask to blend the images together. After I had them blended well, I added the quote I found. To make the text more interesting, I played around with the color of the text and also the opacity of the text. I also added quotation marks in a different color and made them bigger so it would add some variety and contrast. Message: I wanted to inspire people and remind them that they are in control of their own life and they have the power to make their life whatever they want it to be. Audience: Dancers because of the image but also a general public. Colorized/ Filter used and where it was applied: I used opacity to help make the letters look darker and lighter as well as the quotation marks. Color scheme and color names: Black, white and red. Top things I learned: How to blend two images using photoshop. Font #1 and category: Oriya MN, Slab Serif Font #2 and category: Brush Script Std: Script

Brochure
Description: A tri fold brochure. Horizontal and vertical. Process (programs, tools, skills): I started in Indesign. I put my ruler guides on the page for the trifold horizontal and the trifold vertical. It was hard to get them to match up but with the help of the internet I was able to find the correct measurements. I then searched the internet for pictures and a possible texture that I wanted to use. Once I found the pictures, I decided to frame them with different colored rectangles and use the texture on top of them. To get my texture transparent, I used the effects and changed it so it would be more transparent. I used illustrator to create my Zoo logo. I wanted something simple so that is how I came up with the idea of having the os in the Zoo be the eyes of an animal. I played around with the text and the color of it as well as the headers. I finally found something I liked and applied it to my whole brochure. I originally had the whole brochure be one color. But I didnt like it that much. So to change it up, I added the purple section on the side. I drew a rectangle and then I used the convert angle tool to adjust it to what I wanted it to look like. Message: Inform people about the Denver Zoo and their attractions. Audience: Families and anyone who loves animals! Top Things I learned: How to cut a picture in photoshop and how to use rulers to help you figure out where folds go. This whole project was a big learning process for me. Color Scheme: Big Split Complementary - teal, gold, violet and brick Title Font Name and Category: Marker Felt, Decorative Body Font Name and Category: Bangle MN(regular), Sans Serif

Description: Three different logos for the same company. Process: I started by sketching a few different logos and playing around with design. I asked my client what he was looking for in the logo. I made each of these logos by using Illustrator. I used the shape tool, pen tool, select and direct selection tool to make these designs. To add different color to each one, I used the eyedropper and the color wheel. I used different kinds of typography for each logo and in one of them I have two different kinds to add contrast. I also added contrast by changing the size of the words. I picked three different color schemes - one for each design - to add variety to the logos and make each one unique. Photodesign
Description: Demonstrate good photography and editing skills by using camera and photoshop. Using color scheme and incorporating it into a design. Process: I started my project by choosing a color scheme. Then I went outside and inside taking pictures of different objects that had those colors. I used a camera that I borrowed from a friend. It was a D3100. Luckily, the sunset that day happened to be yellow, red and blue! I was very lucky to have been outside that exact moment. Once I took the picture, I used different tools in photoshop to edit the picture. I changed the vibrance, color, exposure etc. of the picture. All of these different editing techniques really brought out the sunset and the colors like I wanted them. After the picture was edited, I started playing with different shapes and colors and for the design. I used squares of different sizes and a circle to add more of an organic element since the picture includes a tree. My design is an 8.5 x 11. Message: I wanted to remind people that sometimes one just needs to takes the time to breath and look at the beauty around them. I want people to know that it is okay to relax! Description:A website created to showcase one of the logos I created. Process: ( Programs, Skills, Tools):I used the program TextWrangler to create and edit the code that created the website. I have never worked with HTML of CSS so at first I was very intimidated by it. As I started working on it, it became less and less intimidating. I actually really enjoyed working with it. In order to change the color of the words, background, etc., I attached a CSS document to my HTML. I used Photoshop and the eyedropper tool to get the exact color from my logo to insert into my CSS document. I think its so cool how one can use HTML and CSS to create a webpage! I also used html validator and css validator to make sure that all my code was correct. At first I had lots of errors but the validator made it easy to find them. I also changed the fonts of the webpage. I used a sans serif for my headers and a serif for my body. Message:My company is an ice cream bar and invites all to come try delicious ice cream. The webpage message is to just tell others what I did to get my final logo result.
