Sudanese forces deliberately shot at peacekeepers & other threats and attacks on blue helmets Background:

On 11 April a large police & military convoy deployed on a monitoring, security assessment and verification mission at Dobo and Ambudje Areas, in North Darfur, which was witnessing intense fighting between government forces and the Sudan evolutionary !ront, was stopped at Dobo village by S"A#S"$$ rebels who re%uested a prior authori&ation' (hree days later, )NA$*D deployed another large police and military convoy which made it to the area, where it spent most of the day' On its way bac+, the Sudanese forces shot several times at )NA$*D peace+eepers, which forced them to spend the night on the road, and wait for morning escort from the government forces' As usual, some government officials were %uic+ to deny being behind the attac+, while others would confirm it' *n this case, the ,oS $ilitary commander at )mdersay -amp informed )NA$*D that .the shooting was because of the movement of the convoy beyond 1/00 hours and warned that )NA$*D must first inform the ,oS $ilitary -ommand in Shangil (obaya about their movements before embar+ing on such patrols'1 (his serious incident that documents the government forces2 deliberate attac+s on the peace+eepers went unreported in 3an 4i5moon reports of April and 6uly 7018' Similarly, 3an2s 6anuary 7018 report doesn2t indicate another ,oS shooting incident that too+ place on 79 December, when )NA$*D patrol came under fire while heading to 4ulbus locality, :est Darfur' As the patrol stopped, the government forces e;plained the reason for shooting' (hey claimed they weren2t informed about )NA$*D movement, which should be free and unhindered in any case' (his incident was reported by )NA$*D military, reproduced in )NDSS security report, classified as an A source, meaning a source that is +nowledgeable and has direct access to information' <See )NDSS sitrep= 3an2s report for 6uly 7018 doesn2t mention another serious incident also reported by the )NA$*D military, reproduced by )NDSS security report, classified as an A source' During this armed threat and harassment incident that too+ place on 11 April 7018 at (aiba )NA$*D borehole in >alingei town, -entral Darfur, a large group of national security personnel armed with pistols and Sudanese Armed !orces soldiers armed with rifles surrounded the wandese peace+eepers and threatened to +ill the one fetching water if he doesn2t stop fetching immediately' (he wandese peace+eepers, +nown within the mission as one of the best trained and disciplined soldiers, stood firm, re%uested reinforcement and managed to challenge yet another threat <See full )NDSS report='

No serious and deadly attac+ seems to have been carried out by the rebel movements against the peace+eepers during the August5April period, to the best of +nowledge' ?owever, on 70 December a large group of S"A#$$ members visited )NA$*D team site in 4hor5Abeche and ac+nowledged having fired on the )NA$*D peace+eepers on certain occasions' Such an ac+nowledgement as well as the serious accusations they made against )NA$*D were reported in details in the police sitrep and went unreported in the 6oint Operations -entre2s sitrep to New @or+#DA4O <see both police and 6Ositreps down below='
