STOCK PITCH COMPETITION

UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND INVESTMENT CLUB

Registration
Stock Pitch Competition registrations must be submitted by Friday, April 11 by 6pm Participants are to compete in teams of four Participants are able to register as an individual, partial team, or complete team Teams competing from the University of Auckland may only consist of both registered and fully paid UAIC members Participants who have successfully registered for the competition will be notified on April 13

Preparation
A Stock Pitch Competition tutorial will be held in the week leading up to the event Each presentation should establish a Buy, Sell or Hold rating on the provided NZX listed company Each presentation should follow the UAIC template supplied at the tutorial and include, at a minimum, answers to the questions of Is this a good company? and Is this company selling at a good price? Each team will be supplied with a selection of resources to aid their research. Private sources of information, such as brokerage reports, will not be permitted under any circumstances and will lead to the instant disqualification of any team in breach of this rule. The use of specific valuation techniques is not required as the focus of the competition is on fundamental analysis

Competition Format
Preliminary rounds will be held on Thursday, April 17 Each team will have four hours to prepare their pitch before presenting to a panel of judges Formal business attire is required The stock will be disclosed confidentially to each team upon the start of their preparation time. Disclosing the stock this with another team before they arrive will be a breach of the rules and will warrant disqualification if so determined by the organising committee The top three or four teams will compete in the finals on Wednesday, April 23 The finalists will be given another four hours to prepare a pitch on a new stock A prize of $500 will be awarded to the winning team The announcement of the winning team will be made on the April 23 during the networking function proceeding the presentations

Presentations
Each presentation will consist of an initial team presentation of ten minutes, followed by a Q&A session with judging panel of five minutes Each team member is expected to speak at some point during the presentation The collective decision of the judging panel will be final in deciding the winner of the competition
