Liftboat Job Descriptions

Chief Engineer Appropriate U.S. Coast Guard licenses are required. Duties include but are not limited to: supervision and coordination of activities of crew engaged in operation and maintaining propulsion engines and other engines, deck machinery, electrical, refrigeration and sanitary equipment aboard ship; inspection of engines and other equipment and orders crew to repair or replace defective parts; starts the engine to propel ship; stands engine-room watch during specified periods; ensures required engine fluid levels are maintained; repair of machinery using hand and power tools; maintain engine log. DDE-1000 HSP Duties include but are not limited to: planning maintenance and repairs while vessel is operating; performing engine maintenance, repairs, tune-ups, overhauls, all machinery repairs and re-building of cranes, winches, gearboxes, etc.; experienced knowledge of air systems, controls and maintenance of air compressors, pump repairs and maintenance of ballast systems, portable water systems, slat water systems and fuel systems; electrical generator operation and maintenance, electric motor maintenance, troubleshooting and change out, A.C. lighting systems, general alarm systems, A.C. and D.C. engine and crane alarm systems; maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; maintain daily engine and preventative maintenance records, order parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment. DDE- 4000 HSP Duties include but are not limited to: planning maintenance and repairs while vessel is operating; performing engine maintenance, repairs, tune-ups, overhauls, all machinery repairs and re-building of cranes, winches, gearboxes, etc.; experienced knowledge of air systems, controls and maintenance of air compressors, pump repairs and maintenance of ballast systems, portable water systems, slat water systems and fuel systems; electrical generator operation and maintenance, electric motor maintenance, troubleshooting and change out, A.C. lighting systems, general alarm systems, A.C. and D.C. engine and crane alarm systems; maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; maintain daily engine and preventative maintenance records, order parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment. DDE-Unlimited HSP Duties include but are not limited to: planning maintenance and repairs while vessel is operating; performing engine maintenance, repairs, tune-ups, overhauls, all machinery repairs and re-building of cranes, winches, gearboxes, etc.; experienced knowledge of air systems, controls and maintenance of air compressors, pump repairs and maintenance of

ballast systems, portable water systems, slat water systems and fuel systems; electrical generator operation and maintenance, electric motor maintenance, troubleshooting and change out, A.C. lighting systems, general alarm systems, A.C. and D.C. engine and crane alarm systems; maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; maintain daily engine and preventative maintenance records, order parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment. Deckhand Duties include but are not limited to: serving as lookout, steering and engine room watches; attaches slings, hooks and other lifting devices to cables, booms and hoists; loads equipment and supplies aboard vessel by hand or using hoisting equipment; signals counterparts to move, hoist and position loads; assists in maintenance of the vessel including chipping, buffing, painting and cleaning; washes deck and other equipment; lubricates, adjust and makes minor repairs to engines and equipment; secure and removes vessel docking lines to and from docks, other vessels and platforms; performs general maintenance and other housekeeping duties. Liftboat Captain Appropriate U.S. Coast Guard licenses are required. Duties include but are not limited to: commanding the vessel to transport passengers, freight, equipment and other cargo across oceans, lakes and coastal waters; setting course of ships using navigational aids such as charts, area plotting sheets, compass and sextant and orders crew worker at helm of ship; determining geological position of ship using loran or azimuths of celestial bodies; inspecting ship to ensure that crew and passengers observe safety regulations and efficient operation of ship; maintaining ships log. Ordinary Seamen Appropriate U.S. Merchant Mariners Document is required. Duties include but are not limited to: standing lookout, steering and engine room watches; attaching slings, hooks and other lifting devices to cables, booms and hoists; loading equipment and supplies aboard vessels by hand or using hoisting equipment; singaling others to move, hoist and position loads; rowing boats and dinghies and operating skiffs to transport divers and other personnel; washing deck and other equipment; securing and moving vessel docking lines to and from docks and other vessels or platforms. Project Manager Duties include but are not limited to: planning and scheduling all liftboat regulatory and required repairs, upgrades or retrofits; interfacing with general manager of liftboat operations and other departments to provide technical support for determination of necessity/extent of repair, upgrade and retrofit; coordinate vessel inspection to define repair, upgrade or retrofit; coordinate development of design and drawings for project; interface with general manager of liftboat operations to determine feasible location or port for project work and timing; developing initial project estimates, scope of work and specifications; providing onsite project supervision to ensure all agreements/contracts with shipyard/contractors are upheld; developing Authorization for Expenditure (AFE)

and submit for approval; bidding projects to contractors, shipyards and equipment/materials suppliers/repairers and selecting such vendors; locating and ensuring shipyard/drydock facilities or onsite contractors are available when required; ensuring that all material and equipment requirements are ordered, expedited and delivered on time; serving as primary contact for shipyard, contractors and regulatory bodies associated with projects; ensuring projects proceed as stated in the scope of work and the standards as listed in the specifications and meet company safety requirements; must be regularly available for onsite project supervision. QMED Engineer Duties include but are not limited to: Changing oil, oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, etc.; performing engine overhauls, repairs, tune ups; assisting with and learning crane, winch, gearbox repairs; assisting with and learning air compressor repairs and maintenance; maintaining daily records, reading and understanding instruction manuals; performing repairs on air ballast systems, potable water systems, fuel systems, air systems; performing AC/DC electrical current repairs.
