Founder Biography
Born in Washington, D.C. the youngest of 5 children, Vanessa Maddox th began her career in the information technology (I.T.) in the 11 grade. Since then, she has evolved into a visionary training & development leader with 20 years of experience in the industry. Ms. Maddox began as a staff assistant and trainer for the U.S. House of Representatives. She went on to work for Fortune 500 organizations, federal government agencies and federal contractors such as AOL, Nextel Corporation, Global Knowledge, Harris Corporation, QinetiQ North America the U.S. Senate and the Social Security Administration. Ms. Maddox is well versed at building and supporting learning and development and human resources programs. She effectively manages teams and promotes learning as a competitive advantage. Ms. Maddox is able to communicate and work with all levels of employees in an organization. In 2008 Ms. Maddox parlayed her 20 years of experience into her first entrepreneurial venture. She founded V.R. Maddox Consulting. V.R. Maddox Consulting is a full-service consulting firm that partners with organizations to build and manage world-class employee development programs. In July, 2010, V.R. Maddox Consulting proudly became a Certified Virginia SWaM business (Small, Women & Minority Owned). One year later in 2009, Ms. Maddox founded her second company called TheGirlfriendGroup (TGG). TGG is a global business and social networking website for women. The mission focuses on women helping women in all aspect of life. TGG began as a tribute to a dearly departed sibling. Less than a year later, TGG has grown quickly into a well-respected global online community for women. The group offers social events, an active mentoring program for young girls, an education series and community outreach. Ms. Maddoxs personal philosophy is collaborate and remain open-minded. She enjoys working with smart, talented people that are willing to learn and contribute to the success of mission, values and goals of the organization. She believes in giving 110%. Ms. Maddox resides in Leesburg, VA with her husband Roger, sons Connor and Jamison and doggie pets Eddie and Sal.

Programs
The Girlfriend Education Series Seminars, symposiums and small group meetings where we offer professional development and speaker opportunities to the membership. TheGirlfriendGroup Training Institute Together with our strategic partner, Knowlogy, TGG offers all members FREE Microsoft certified training in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. This is our effort to help our underemployed, unemployed and returning to the workforce members empower themselves. You must be a current member to enjoy the benefits of this unprecendented offer. The PowerHouse Womens League The founder, Vanessa Maddox handpicks 10 members from TGG quarterly and brings them together in a roundtable discussion on topics of interest to women. What happens here, stays here. The Annual Girlfriend Party This is our marquee event of the year. We dress up, go to a fabulous location and have a good-ole girly time. The 2013 Party will be held at Nordstom Tysons Corner. Don't miss it! There are no barriers to joining our community and ALL women are welcome.

TheGirlfriendGroup Health Initiative Womens health is a huge concern in society as a whole. We take care of everyone around us to the detriment of our own health. TGGHI was created to facilitate dialogue with doctors, health and wellness facilities, subject matter experts and others that promote women taking care of themselves TheGirlfriendGroup Foundation for Young Women & Girls The foundation will support, encourage and mentor young women and girls from culturally diverse th backgrounds and all socio-economic environments. Our demographic is girls from 9 12 grade and young women from freshman through senior year of college. We enable them to reflect on their chosen path: entrepreneurship or a traditional career path.
