PROBLEMATIC FACING THE CITY OF CARTAGENA Poverty in Cartagena, as in other departments and palpable evidence for its inhabitants. However, in the eyes of "outside" the pretty face or rather the leaders are responsible to show what their interests should show evident. But giving it back to what it really is and the situation really ails the city can see that mostly , the Cartagenera population lives in poverty, and only a small percentage is living under favorable conditions. Cartagena today has over one million inhabitants, 75 % of the city population is poor and 45 % are in poverty hungry. Factors associated with malnutrition are among the leading causes of death which particularly affects children and older adults, according to a study of the Viva Corporation Citizenship. That is, people also starve, for the purposes of illegal armed groups and violence in general not only. Corruption, elite administer the city money in the way that suits them. Politicians play to the interests of citizens and deceiving buy votes and making promises they never fulfill during his tenure, at least this is what has been seen in recent years.

Poverty also manifests itself in the lack of coverage of healthcare services, so that people suffer the rigor of walk of death" to which they are subjected by the city clinics when they have no resources to pay for medical care. Medical assistance the government offers them not only becoming victims of their diseases but entities do not even know what is in their power to assure health. To make matters worse the situation becomes even more complicated with all the displaced who arrive seeking shelter, but find that the city can have many problems or worse than those with in the field. Cartagena is receiving the forced displacement of city municipalities of Bolvar, mainly, but also of Antioquia, Sucre, Crdoba and Choc among others, a situation which, as mentioned above aggravates social crisis and poverty in the city. Another problem facing the city of Cartagena are the environmental problems are the result of human conflict between supply and demand of resources that man makes of these in addition to forms processing , inadequate management and culture consumption . When the subject man looking this complacency, then human settlements are more populous places where many of these imbalances, conflicts and environmental problems that call for our case - urban environmental problems are concentrated.
