Carefully review the Region 1 Professional Executive Board Member Characteristics and Qualifications. 2014-15 Region 1 Professional Executive Board Candidate Application Region 1 Professional Executive Board Member Characteristics and Qualifications 1. Must have been an active member in good standing of the Region 1 Society of Black Engineers during and one (1) term prior to application. 2. 3. 4. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the Societys operating policy and procedure. Must demonstrate familiarity with the NSBE Professional Membership Must attend all regularly scheduled meetings, (including transition meeting and leadership training if applicable), the 2014 Professional Development Conference, and the 2015 Annual Convention. 5. Must be able and willing to devote sufficient time to consistently fulfill the position duties as outlined in the Region 1 Professional Operating Guidelines 6. Must maintain contact with the Professional Chair, Zone Leader, Region 1 Executive Board and World Headquarters Counterparts(s) to ensure viability and productivity. 7. 8. Must be able to allow others space for leadership and decision-making. Must perform assigned tasks in a timely manner to facilitate the orderly progression of the goals and directives for the term of the Region 1 Professional Executive Board. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. Must be dependable, self-motivated and an independent worker. Must be a strategic thinker while being both detail and result oriented. Must be able to work with various demographic levels and needs. Must be aware of own personal limitations. Must strive to possess and maintain a positive perspective with the goal to initiate change. Must be committed to his/her position from the time of election/appointment until April 30 th, 2015.

Recommendation Letters: Please submit two (2) letters of recommendation that speak to your character regarding the position sought. One letter should be from a current or past Region 1 Board Member (e.g. PEB, NEB, NAB) or World Headquarter Employee. The second letter can be from any additional source however a current or previous employer is highly recommended. Recommendation letters should be sent directly to the Region 1 Professionals Chair Emeritus (Ronald Wagogo) at r1pebemeritus@nsbe.org.
