HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 1Samuel 25-27; Luke 10:22-42 Monday, April 14 Isa. 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Merciful Heavenly Father: I have a burden to bring before you. It is the godlessness of my surroundings and the people who surround me. Too many delight in sin. I watch while drunkenness defiles so many families. Corrosive words destroy so many homes. I have a nation entrusted with fabulous resources, but it cannot raise its children right! Oh, have mercy on our aggravated sin. My job and my circumstances are hard, but let me lead someone to salvation through them. I am duty bound to pray for __________, and love constrains me also. I personally know __________; let them seek after Christ. Or by some means any means, every meansmay their ears be reached and their hearts be touched by the gospel. Lord, that their souls may live, and that you may be glorified! Help the valiant witnesses from my church as we press forward into the dense darkness of the enemy camp. Give me strength to fight courageously. I am a pioneer, on the frontier of increasingly post-Christian conditions. I am on my own mission field! Guard me by your unseen agents from invisible attacks. Keep me in good spirits today. May my confidence always be in Christ, and may I see you send the day of victory much sooner than my feeble faith even hopes. Lord I have another burden; I myself do not love you like I should. Oftentimes I grow lukewarm and chilled. Doubt creeps into my mind and unbelief mars my confidence. I sin and forget God. Lord help me! Forgiveness is not enough; I want holiness. Cut upby the rootsthe weeds that grow in my soul. I want to serve you. I long that every thought would be all for you. I only live if I live for you. Everything else is vanity. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 2Samuel 1-3; Luke 12:1-30 Thursday, April 17 Josh. 3:8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS Chronological Bible Reading: 1Samuel 28-29; Luke 11:1-27 Tuesday, April 15 Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: Come Have a Word with Me, Lord: I want to bring power to our Sunday services, and our small group meetings, and our HarvestKids devotions. The only way I can do that is to draw near to Christ as he drew near to you. When he prayed, it was the Son talking to the Father and unburdening his heart in close communion. Help me come as a child of God to you, Father. I can talk to you as one who is very next of kin. There will be no lack of power if I pray like that. Jesus drew near in his prayer as a priest, but I am king and priest to you (Rev 1:6; 5:10). I come to intercede before the throne with my breastplate on, pleading the merits of the precious blood of the Lord Christ Jesus. There would be no tedium in prayer if each one of us would put on our priestly garments. Jesus came before you with a burning zeal for the Fathers glory. So must I. Clothe me in it. Let me burn and blaze with love to you today. Let this be a special private session of prayer. Teach me how to love you. Show me how to reverence you. Fire me with an intense desire to spread-abroad the savor of your name. Being in an agony. You shed not tears for yourself but for others. Those sighs were not cries for your own pangs, but for the sorrows and sins of the lost. Help me feel as you felt. Give me a tender heart, an awakened soul-consciousness, and a living sympathy through prayer. I come to the wounds of Christ to get lifeblood for my devotional time. I sit down at Calvary and look up, on the dying Lord to hear him say, I have loved you and given myself for you. I rise up with resolve in my spirit to bear the cross today. Help me gain for you the hearts of the sons of men. Make this prayer a thing of power, Lord! For while I have a special need, but you have given special encouragement. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 2Samuel 4-6; Luke 12:31-59 Friday, April 18 Isa. 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. O Lord Our Father: How important is this verse in light of world events and political elections. Smite a heavy blow at the Adversary and make his lies lie before you in pieces. Set yourself up in place of the false gods that are ruling our lives. As to us your people, let us not live for self, or even self-satisfaction. Jesus, become the Lord and Master of our spirit. Deliver us from the dominion of sin by irresistible, yet merciful attack. Help us follow in obedience to you. Make the strongest part of our will strive for holiness. We sigh after it! We cry after it! We lament our own failures and falling short. Help us win the pleasure of complete obedience to God. This is the target toward whichlike a missileour church is speeding. Rough winds try to turn us aside, but we can strike that target by grace. Lord, please help us every day to put sin down. Whenever pride rises up, let us be humbled in your sight. Whenever self comes up, may we be determined not to let it alone, but to flee to your precious blood so we can conquer it. Lord, save us from the love of the world, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. Save us, we beg you, from everything natural to fallen man. Let the new nature you planted in us grow through discipleship, and grow in its manifestation day by day. Bring us, make us, to be more like Christ, 1 Pet. 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Help us praise your name when assembled together, because God, we want to fulfill all your will. Help us do this for Jesus sake and glory. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 1Samuel 30-31; Luke 11:28-54 Wednesday, April 16 Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Heavenly Father: I trust the desire in my heart for your glory was written there by the Holy Ghost. So I trust in him now to express through groanings the words I cannot utterwords you will accept as I plead for revival. Make my prayer today a shadow of your purpose for our church, ministries and missionaries. You always had it in mind to bring us revival; that is why your Spirit has inclined us to ask. True prayer is my comprehension of your indication that you intend to bless me like that. It is the heralding of your mercy. Today I plead, because I realize as never before that the Spirit of God is pleading in me. Help me to speak out that which he speaks within. ! It is for your glory that saints be revived and their first love rekindled ! It is for your glory that sinners be converted and society changed ! It is for your glory that my acquaintances recognize your power ! It is for your glory that this city start talking about what we have with you ! It is for your glory that our church grows, that we see people added to the family, and faith multipliedor else I would not ask for it I dont want my notions of doctrine to prevail, or our denomination to become famous. I want your truth to prevail and your Son to be exalted! Make it so by your Spirit. Make it so through me! Make Gods gloryand our desire for Christ to be lifted upthe Alpha and Omega of our desire for revival. Then grant that for which you have caused us to pray. Do it because of Jesus, and because his death merits such grace. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 2Samuel 7-9; Luke 13 Saturday, April 19 Psa. 28:6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. Faithful Heavenly Father: You bless me and make me a blessing. Make my life a blessing to you. If I pray well I should praise well, because prayer and praise are the two lips of the soul. Real praise is based on reason. It is not irrational emotional experience, but rises from the depth of understanding. You answer my prayers, so remind me to acknowledge that, and make it a point to vocalize praise for your goodness. Psa. 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. You use your power on my behalf. Every day I can say, I am helped. Since I serve such a great God I have to rejoice in him greatly. A song is my souls best method of expressing happiness with you. Psa. 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. I cannot add anything to you, but I should recognize your glory and might, and give you praise in my songs and in my heart. Help me not be so successful that I am slack in glorifying you. I should not need pressure to give you what I owe, especially when paying it is so pleasant! In times past worship was cumbered with ceremony, and people gathered around a sanctuary that was symbolic of the beauty of holiness. Today my worship is spiritual. The architecture of the house and the garments of the worshipper are not important. The spiritual beauty of inward purity and outward holiness are far more important to you. Help me worship you with those things Sunday, as is my reasonable service (Rom 12:1-2). I ask it to Jesus glory. Amen.

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS " PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) ! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking with us) ! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the Word)

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
