What could you expect if you visited the other cultures country? 8. Have each group read off their cultural norms to the whole class. 9. Discussion Guiding Questions: How did you feel about the behavior of those in your group? Of the other group? Did you use positive, negative, or neutral terms to describe the other group? How well did your group observe the norms of their assigned culture? What did you do if someone in your group didnt follow the norms of your culture? What are the real world advantages of following the cultural norms? AGREE/DISAGREE STATEMENTS (students will give the thumbs up or thumbs down to indicate whether they agree or disagree)

*People have difficulty describing the behaviors of other groups in nonjudgmental terms. *People acquire cultural norms fairly quickly. *Most of the groups norms are maintained through peer pressure. *Americans tend to feel uncomfortable without eye contact, even though in many parts of the world, eye contact is considered to be rude and impolite. *The same behavior can be perceived differently depending on your groups norms. For example, what appears friendly to the Chispas, seems pushy to Pandyas. What are some real world situations that were illustrated during the game? What lessons would you keep in mind if you were going to spend time in an unfamiliar culture? What are some cross-cultural experiences you have experienced? How did those make you feel?---- different religious services/ different countries/ new school/ having dinner with a family different than yours--- GIVE THEM TIME TO WRITE IT DOWN AND THEN SHARE How do your cultural values and beliefs influence the way you behave? Why is it important to be aware of the invisible aspects of culture?
