Motion Analysis Project

I will teach you about the Airplanes. You will learn about lift and fluid flow, and the theories behind what enables an airplane to lift itself off the ground.

Newtons Laws of Motion

1st Law: An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion in the same speed and direction. Unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. 2nd Law: Forces cause change in motion (Forces cause acceleration) mass measures how much an object resists change in motion. 3rd Law: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Airplanes
The airplane is flying forward by the the force of traction. It overcomes the braking force, the airplane (air resistance) and lift overcomes gravity (force of gravity). The airplane helps (lift force). But its work only if the airplane is moving with a high speed. The airplanes is flying because are able to generate, a force called lift which normally moves the airplane upward. Lift is generated by the forward motion of the airplane through the air. This motion is produced by the Thrust, Lift, Drag and Weight.

Lift (force)
A fluid flowing past the surface of a body exerts a force on it. Lift is the component of this force that is perpendicular to the oncoming flow direction. It contrasts with the drag force, which is component of the surface force parallel to the flow direction. If the fluid is air, the force is air, the force is called an aerodynamic force. In water, it is called a hydrodynamic force

Lift (force)
Lift is the force generated by propellers and wings to propel aircraft and keep them in the air. In fluid dynamics, Bernoullis principle states that for an inviscid flow, an increase in the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure or decrease in fluids potential energy. The principle is named after Daniel Bernoulli who published it in his book Hydrodynamica in 1738

Bernoullis principle
Bernoullis principle can also be derived directly from Newtons 2nd law. If a small volume of fluid is flowing horizontally from a region of high pressure to a region of low pressure, then there is more pressure behind than in front. This gives a net force on the force on volume, accelerating it along the streamline.

Laws of Motion- 1) If an object is not moving it will not start by itself. If an object is moving, it will not stop or change direction unless something pushes it. 2) Object will not farther and faster when they are pushed harder. 3) When an object is pushed in one direction, there is always a resistance of the same size in opposite direction.

Vocabulary
Drag- Resistance that slows an object down in the air. Items that are streamlined lave less drag in air. Gravity- A force that pushes object come down to the earth. Lift- A force that pushes objects upward. Thrust- The force of flight that pushes a plane forward. Weight- A force that acts on the plane to pull it back to earth.
