INTRODUCTION

TO THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY

Highly Intensive, Interactive & Practical Work Shop

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This introductory course provides the participants with an overview of the oil
and gas industry. It presents the main aspects of the industry with focus on
exploration, development, production and processing of oil and gas resources.
The course addresses some of the theoretical and practical issues involved in
reservoir appraisal, field development options and optimisation, supported by
numerous examples both; onshore and offshore fields.

Upon Completion Of The Course The Attendees Will Be Able To

Understand:

The brief history of the oil industry in Abu Dhabi

The geological aspects relative to the formation and accumulation of

hydrocarbons;

The risks and uncertainties when exploring for oil and gas. The main
methods used in exploration with emphasis on seismic methods;

How wells are drilled and constructed with emphasis on offshore drilling
operations;

How oil and gas volumes are estimated, the inherent uncertainties and
what reserves and reserves categories mean;

How oil and gas fields are developed and exploited;

What are the main facilities required for the processing and evacuation of
oil and gas;

The principal issues relative to safety and environmental control in the

upstream sectors.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course would cater for; Newcomers and juniors to the oil & gas industry
including management staff from within the industry and government
organisations, reservoir engineers, petroleum engineers, geophysicists,
development geologists and economists.
