Speaking Skills: Ho !o" So"nd Volume, pitch, rate, inflexion, and pauses are the elements of vocal delivery of most concern to speakers. The speaker who shouts, whispers, speaks so rapidly that ideas are missed, runs words together, and pauses after every word or sentence is difficult to understand and probably creates little, if any, effect. This module discusses the proper use of the elements to achieve the desired effect on the listener. 5oice, 5olume, Pitch, 1ate 4nflexion, #tress, Phrasing, Pausing

#se of $ords and %ocab"lary Words are powerful. How we use words can influence feelings, actions and way of thinking. ur choice of words can make our listeners come alive, excited and motivated to action or they can elicit an uncaring attitude or at best, a lukewarm reaction.

This module helps us determine the appropriate words to use to connect with our audience. !t will also identify the commonly misused words and expression as well as misspelled and abused words to avoid committing similar mistakes 6sing the 1ight 3ords 7 Technical vs. $ayman .iction and 3ord )hoice 4diomatic "xpressions )ommonly 8isused and 0bused 3ords and "xpressions
