SCHOOL OF CHOICE If you currently have a Schools of Choice student, you must notify the District either by email to D'Anne Golub at golubd@glcomets.net, or a letter to Grand Ledge Public Schools, c/o D'Anne Golub, 220 Lamson Street, Grand Ledge, MI 48837 no later than May 31, 2014 indicating that you would like your student(s) to continue as a schools of choice student for the 2014-2015 school year.

Are you looking for a summer school opportunity for your child? GRASP is an academic correspondence program in reading and mathematics for grades K-8. It is a costefficient substitute for traditional summer school. The program helps students retain skills learned during the school year. We are offering this program to Beagle students. Over the summer, your child completes materials and sends them in for scoring. The lessons should take your child approximately one hour per week to complete each weekly lesson. ! Return forms and fees by April 14, 2014 ! All materials will be sent home with the child the last week of school

PTO NEWS Final Box Top Contest of the Year. Now through Friday, May 23rd, collect and bring in as many Box Tops as you can, and put them into your classrooms collection container. For every 25 Box Tops you submit, you will be entered into a drawing to win a prize! Twenty prizes will be awarded school wide. Be sure to include your name and teachers name on all completed collection sheets, baggies and/or envelopes that you send in so that you can be entered into the drawing.

FOOD BANK DONATIONS Thanks to everyone who donated items for the Grand Ledge food bank last week. Ms. Hoesls classroom had the most donations with a total of 140 items. Their classroom will receive free popcorn on the next Popcorn Friday; which is scheduled for Friday, April 18th. ATTENTION: 5th Grade Parents Schools in Michigan will be required to report the following immunization status of all children entering kindergarten, all 6th grade students, and all children 11 through 18 years of age who are changing school districts. All students must have documentation from a health professional of the following immunizations: ! Three doses of polio vaccine ! Two doses of measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccine ! Three doses of hepatitis B vaccine (this is a series of 3 shots) NEW ! Two doses of chickenpox (varicella) vaccine after 12 months of age (or approximate date of chickenpox disease). NEW ! One dose of meningococcal vaccine (1118 yr old students) NEW ! Complete series of diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus vaccine (DTP, DtaP, DT, or Td), with one dose of Tdap in the last five years (for ALL incoming 6th graders and 11-18 yr old students changing school districts) The new requirements will help assure that all school-aged children are protected against vaccinepreventable diseases. If your child needs immunizations, you should contact your physician or the local health department. If you have any questions regarding school immunization requirements, you may call the Barry-Eaton District Health Department at 485-7110.

COUNSELORS CORNER ~ Sandy Husted~ On Tuesday, April 15th, Beagle Elementary will be hosting a Bucket Fillers Assembly! First-third graders are scheduled from 9:15-9:50. Forth-sixth graders are scheduled from 10:00-10:35. After the assembly, students will have the opportunity to participate in activities to reinforce the message from the assembly: we all carry an invisible bucket. This bucket contains our feelings. When our bucket is full, we feel great; when its empty, we feel empty. A bucket filler is someone who says or does nice things for other people. By doing this, they are filling other peoples buckets and filling their own bucket at the same time. On the other hand, a bucket dipper says or does things to cause other people to feel bad. This simple, but profound, philosophy applies to every aspect of life. I hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!
