DIRECTIONS

Easy
SIZE

Puppy is 16 inches long

MATERIALS

4-ply yarn:
6 oz peach
6 oz off-white
3 oz black
2 oz light blue
Scrap of red
Various scrap amounts in
desired colors for afghan
Crochet hooks sizes F/5, G/6
and H/8
#/4-inch blue button
Fiberfill
3 x 12-inch piece cardboard
Yarn needle
GAUGE

With crochet hook size G, 4 sts =

1 inch
PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Even-numbered rnds of puppy are
worked in loop st, odd-numbered rnds
in sc. At the end of a lp st rnd, give
loops a tug to tighten.
Sl st to join each rnd in beg sc, do
not turn rnds.
Lp St: Insert hook in indicated sc,
lp yarn twice around 2 fingers of left
hand (right hand for left-handed crocheters), insert hook at base of lps under both strands, draw both strands
through sc, removing fingers from lps
(3 lps on hook), yo, draw through all 3
lps on hook.
Lp sts will be on inside of work,
pattern will indicate when to turn
right side out.
Stuff only indicated pieces,
stuff each indicated piece softly
with fiberfill .
PUPPY
EARS (make 2)

Rnd 1: With crochet hook size G

and peach yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch
from hook, join. (6)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 lp sts in each
st around, join. (12)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around,
join.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, lp st in each st
around, join.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, [2 sc in next st, sc in
next st] 6 times, join. (18)
Rnd 6: Rep Rnd 4.
Rnds 714: Rep Rnds 3 and 4.
At the end of Rnd 14, turn loops
right side out.
Rnd 15: Ch 1, [sk next st, tightly
sc in next st] rep around, join, leaving
a length of yarn, fasten off.
Flatten last rnd straight across,
sew closed, leaving rem length of yarn
for sewing to head.
TAIL

Rnds 16: Rep Rnds 16 of ear.

At the end of Rnd 6, leaving a

length of yarn, fasten off.

Turn lps right side out. Flatten last
rnd straight across, sew closed, leaving
rem length of yarn for sewing to body.
COLLAR

Row 1: With crochet hook size F

and black yarn, ch 26, sc in 2nd ch
from hook, sc in each rem ch across,

Rows 2 & 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc
across, turn.
At the end of Row 3, leaving a
length of yarn, fasten off.
Sew button to center of collar.

Row 1: With crochet hook size H

and red yarn, ch 3, join to form a ring,

Cut 2 pieces of off-white yarn each

10 inches in length; set aside.
Wrap off-white yarn 60 times
around a 12-inch length of cardboard,
cut yarn. Insert first 10-inch length
of yarn through top under strands;
knot to secure. Remove tassel from
cardboard. Wrap rem 10-inch length
around bundle of strands about 1
inch below top strand. Cut strands at
bottom of tassel. Attach tassel to top
point of hat.
AFGHAN
GRANNY SQUARES (make 20)

Rnd 1 (Right side): With any color scrap yarn and crochet hook size
H, ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 3 (first
dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 1, [3 dc in ring, ch
1] 3 times, sl st to join in top of beg
ch-3, fasten off.
Rnd 2 (Right side): Attach offwhite yarn in any corner ch-1 sp, ch 3
(first dc), 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-1
sp, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1
sp, ch 1] 3 times, sl st to join in top of
beg ch-3, fasten off.
With yarn needle and length of
off-white yarn, working in back lps
only, sew squares tog 4 x 5.
TRIM

Rnd 1 (Right side): With crochet

hook size H, attach off-white yarn on
any straight edge of afghan, ch 3, dc
in same st, [sk 2 sts, sl st in next st,
ch 3, dc in same st] rep around entire
outer edge, except around corners [sk
1 st, sl st in next st, ch 3, dc in same
st] twice around each corner, sl st to
join, fasten off.
Attach afghan to button between 2
sts of afghan.
