Tampa Bay Comes Together to Bless Israel

At a size of roughly the same as New Jersey, Israel may be small geographically, but has been put on the map for its tumultuous political, economic, and social issues. According to a new study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Israel has the highest poverty rate in the developed world at 20.9 percent. This score is the highest of 34 economically developed countries. This means that 1,838,600 Israeli citizens are living below the poverty line 860,900 of those are children. The OECD sites that the reason for the consistent increase is due to the economic crisis currently occurring in the nation. Additionally, many experts are stating that Israels budget policies have caused an increase in the gap between the rich and the poor. For example, a new proposed budget policy includes increasing taxes but cutting family subsidies and medical benefits. These cuts are making it more probable for families to descend into poverty. This consequently leads to the escalated poverty rate. With these recent events, the Latet Poverty Report surveyed 100 major food aid organizations in Israel. This national humanitarian organization reported that 95% of Israeli children that received food aid in 2011 had to forego necessary services or basic products, one third of them on a regular basis. Keeping this in mind, DeBartolo Development and Feeding Children Everywhere decided to partner together for Bless Israel a local Hunger Project that will bring the Tampa Bay Community together to make a difference throughout Israel. Together, the Tampa Bay Community will hand package 100,000 healthy meals for hungry children! Feeding Children Everywhere helps volunteers assemble and package healthy meals for hungry kids in poverty-stricken countries like Israel. By distributing these meals, our goal is for parents to be able to provide meals for their children and spend their money on other essentials their children need for success.

East Hartford Community Partners Together to Package Healthy Meals for Uganda EAST HARTFORD, CT The East Hartford community and Feeding Children Everywhere are partnering together for a Hunger Project where volunteers will package 130,000 healthy meals for hungry children in Uganda. Several orphanages will be receiving our meals from this event, including New Hope Orphanage. New Hope cares for children orphaned by war, AIDS and refugee settlement camps in northern Uganda. Feeding has been my main and greatest problem at the orphanage, said Annet Kayongo, the Director and Founder of New Hope for Africa. Your generosity has relieved me a lot of the stress that I have been carrying. On Saturday, July 20, 2013, hundreds of volunteers will gather together to handpackage healthy lentil casseroles that are specifically formulated to combat the effects of malnutrition. Each casserole includes lentils, rice, dehydrated vegetables and pink Himalayan salt, making it an all-natural choice and only 25-cents to get in the hands of a hungry child in need. During the event, over 130,000 healthy meals will be handscooped, weighed, seal and boxed in preparation to be distributed to hungry children in Uganda. The meals will be packaged from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT 06118. The event will be accompanied with great music and good fun.
