FARES
From 1st January 2008
Tickets and passes are valid on all tram-, metro- and trolleybus lines, on the Millennium Underground and the cogwheel railway but on HV suburban railway only within the administrative boundaries of Budapest. On bus lines: tickets are valid on the whole length of the lines, but Budapest all-line passes are valid only to the first stop outside Budapest. Budapest unified/combined passes (BEB passes) are valid on all lines of BKV Ltd. and on allotted lines of MV-START Zrt. (Hungarian Railways) and VOLN (yellow buses) beyond Budapest. Single tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines, at the cashiers' at metro - and HV stations and on the main traffic points in Budapest, at newsagents' and at every Post Office in Budapest and in the suburb. Tickets with a metal stripe can be used even years after the purchase regardless of the price printed on them. Pre-purchased one-day travel cards, three-day travel cards, seven-day travel cards, family tickets and passes can be redeemed before the starting day. * THE MOST IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM 2008 Single tickets, transfer tickets, tickets of the discount coupon book, family tickets and the conurbation tickets cannot be used on the night service network. The single tickets bought on the spot / ticket for night service (HUF 350) are valid at night too, they can be purchased from our employees at the entrances of the stations, from ticket controllers, from vending machines and at our cashiers. The monthly passes can be purchased with any starting day and are valid until 24.00 on the previous day of the starting day in the next month. If holders of monthly passes are controlled without their passes on them they have only two opportunities a year to show their passes afterwards in BKV offices if they have no outstanding debts on previous fines (holders of the yearly passes have no limitation in showing their passes afterwards). The passes shown have to be valid one day before and on the day of fining. * A handling charge of HUF 200 has to be paid
Tickets valid on vehicles of the day service Single ticket HUF 270 Valid for 1 uninterrupted trip without a change, for 60 minutes on the metro and for 30 minutes on Millennium Underground It is not valid at the lines of night services. HUF 2350 It contains 10 pieces of single tickets. Tickets can be torn out and used as single tickets. It is not valid at the lines of night services. HUF 220 Valid for an uninterrupted trip without a change on the metro and the Millennium Underground for 3 stops for maximum 30 minutes. For unlimited travel for 1 adult and 1 child under the age of 14 (free entry to museums and price reductions for a lot of other services.) Tickets can be purchased from drivers on the lines where as singned, controllers, BKV employees at the entrances of the stations and from vending machines.

For unlimited number of trips on the marked day from 00.00 to 24.00 Valid for unlimited trips on the marked day and the following day for 1 or 2 adults and at least one but up to 7 children. Children 6+ have to possess a Hungarian student card. For unlimited number of trips on the marked day and two consecutive days from 00.00 to 24.00 For unlimited number of trips on the marked day and 6 consecutive days from 00.00 to 24.00. It is issued to the name of the holder and valid together with a personal identifying document with a photo. BEB 14-day pass can be bought only at the cashiers in the Akcfa street 15.

Transportation of dogs and bicycles A single ticket has to be validated. Bicycles can be transported only on HV suburban railway and on the cogwheel railway.

Transportation of oversized objects Within the administrative boundaries of Budapest on HV suburban railway 1 single ticket has to be validated. On sections outside Budapest you must buy a separate HV ticket.
