Instructions for mounting BKK cable ducts The BKK cable duct system is a truly modular system primarily used for large plants in industry and commerce. Preferably also wherever: a) maximum unsupported span widths b) high load-bearing capacity per linear m duct c) object-related, individual adaptations to local conditions are required. The hole spacing of the 3 BKK basic profiles is selected so that all profiles can be combined. Cable platforms and cable ducts of all sizes occurring in practice can be produced directly on site by simply bolting elements together using truss-head bolts M6 x 12, type 12510. Fig. 1 shows a combination cable duct of this type. Special components such as angles, branches, cross-overs, reducing pieces and other transition pieces are no longer required in the BKK system. These can be produced in any shape from the 3 BKK basic profiles in a few minutes on site (see Fig 3). On installation, this offers the great advantage of no costly interruptions or breaks due to the lack of bends or T-branches for example. All cable ducts can be assembled that all base and side profiles lie in the same plane of cross-section (see Fig. 1) or according to Fig. 2, with overlapping base and side profiles. Not least, the BKK cable duct system saves considerable planning and storage costs as except for wall and ceiling mountings - at most only 3 basic profiles, straight connectors type 22500, hinge connectors type SV and corresponding bolts type 12510 need be ordered or kept in stock.
The 3 BKK basic profiles type BKK 104, BKK 150 and BKK 200 are in principle used in all cable duct combinations as base profiles and side profiles. The sides of the cable ducts can thus be produced according to the 3 BKK basic profiles with heights 104 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm. For base widths 104 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm, only 1 BKK profile of the corresponding width is required in each case. For larger base widths, bolt 2, 3, 4, 5 or more BKK profiles together. It is always better to bolt the profiles together in an overlapping pattern (see Fig. 2). This increases the stability of the cable ducts and reduces flexion. Profiles with spans of over 3.0 m should be bolted firmly together at least every 0.25 m using bolts M6 x 12, type 12510. For spans up to 3.0 m, the profiles need only be bolted together at intervals of 0.5 m. It is very important to tighten the bolts firmly at the profile ends (joints)! For cable ducts with base widths over 200 mm, we recommend always first bolting together the necessary number of base profiles offset by 250 mm or 500 mm. Then the side profiles, again offset by 250 mm or 500 mm, are bolted to the base profiles as shown in Fig. 2. As a result, no joint connectors are needed for base profiles up to spans of 4.0 m. For spans over 4.0 m however, wherever 2 profiles butt up against each other in cross-section, these should be joined firmly together with joint connectors type 22500 and 4 bolts M 6 x 12, type 12510.
For very long cable ducts, it is easier to bolt the sections together to a length of around 6.0 m, working on support blocks on the floor. Only then should they be placed on the cable duct supports and assembled.

KTS_GB_V0_11032002
For fittings required (angles, tees, cross-overs etc.), per branch from the line routing or per direction change, at least 2 connectors type SSV and 4 bolts type 12510 must be ordered extra per base and side profile. The values given in the table below for the permitted cable loads are for information only and apply to evenly distributed, resting loads. On installation work, the cable ducts can bear a brief additional human load of around 800 N. Exceptions are spans marked +.
