Green Environmental Monitors
(GEMS) campaign

GEMS aims to help The Climate
Generation grow to be responsible
environmental citizens. Building on the
success of the pilot project in Kolkata, EDN
will widen the program to other cities in
India, and students in Asia as well.

Major cities in India are over built, with
miniscule green spaces. To help cities go
green, EDN will organize seminars and
hands-on-training programs so that
citizens learn how to grow plants in even
not- thought-of-before spaces.

EDN will also work with Municipal
Corporation officials to ensure that
existing public parks and gardens are
maintainedY

Educating local self-government leaders

understand the need to implement
campaigns to move from fossil
fuels to cleaner energies.

Impact: By law 33-50 per cent of elected seats are reserved for women. The
term of office is 5 years. Some twenty million village women are already
part of decision-making processess. Programs implemented are thus likely to
positively impact sustainable development.
Environmental Curriculum Development
Environmental science has been discontinued as a separate subject taught
in schoolsY

To bridge the gap in what is really essential knowledge for students, EDN
will hold workshops for teachers who teach Literature, History, Geography,
Political Science, Art and Economics with the aim to showcase ways to
relate their subject to knowledge about environmental issuesY

Impact: greater demand for organic 322R will translate into healthier choices, and
more people producing organic 322R will reduce prices so that the opportunity to
