INTRODUCTION

This report generally discusses the structural concept, foundation system, assumptions, objectives and design approach for the proposed LOCK SUP !"#T #$ #T %#$ "&C&%SS"ST%#T 'U%!T ! "# T( P! )"S S O* "#TU!U LOCK
The structure is essentially a R.C.C framed structure with columns which are connected to each other with a net work of beams and slabs. Slabs act in-plane rigid diaphragms for each of the floors.

4.2 LOAD COMBINATIONS The various loads shall be combined in accordance with the stipulations in IS 8 ! "#art !% $&8 and IS -!.= ,///. The results obtained from the computer analysis in the form of member forces and reactions will be used for design the structural members. 7ollowing load combinations for (imit state of collapse and (imit state of Serviceability have been considered for arriving at the design forces.

5.! MATERIAL PROPERTIES

The 4uilding is a RCC framed structure with columns@ floor slabs being used as diaphragms in redistribution of lateral forces. C#+&"%'%( The minimum 5rade of concrete in all RCC structural members shall be 3,/. Concrete of grade 3$! shall be used in filling8 plum concrete8 leveling courses and other non-structural items. 'ensity of reinforced concrete is assumed as ,! 9:6cu.m 3inimum cement content8 water cement ratio etc. shall conform to provisions for durability and strength criteria as per IS -!.=,///. R%*+5#"&%1%+'( 0igh yield strength deformed bars conforming to IS $ 8. with fy C -$! :6mm , shall be used.

6.! PROPOSED APPORACH OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS The 4uilding is a R.C.C. columns and beam frame structure. ?fter preliminary siBing of various structural members8 a computer model of the structural frame of the building will be generated for carrying out computer analysis for the effects of vertical and lateral load that are likely to be imposed on the structure. The 4uilding structure will be analyBed using the ST??'-#ro ,//. software. ST??'-#ro ,//. has been thoroughly tested8 validated and recogniBed internationally by several organiBations and is well suited for the analysis of 4uilding systems. 5eometrical dimensions8 member properties and member-node connectivity8 including eccentricities will be modeled in the analysis problem. Dariation in material grades8 if present8 will also be considered. 1ind load derivations will be carried out using coefficients 6 factors in accordance with the relevant codes. The computer analysis will evaluate individual internal member forces8 reactions at foundation level and deflection pattern of the entire structure and in the individual members. This data will then be used to verify ade)uacy of the member siBes adopted and after further iterations arrive at the most appropriate design of the structural members. Some re-runs of the analysis program might be re)uired for arriving at the optimum structural space frame characteristics that satisfy the strength and stability criteria in all respects. Space frame analysis will be carried out for gravity loads8 1ind loads.

7.! DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS 7or the design of R.C.C. elements8 the limit state method will be used as per IS -!.-,///. 3aterials of construction will be predominantly concrete with consideration for strength and durability. The minimum grade of concrete is suggested as 3 ,/ 0igh yield strength deformed bars conforming to IS= $ 8. with 7y -$! 3#a will be used as reinforcement. Covers to reinforcement shall be in accordance with IS= -!.=,/// corresponding to moderate e<posure conditions for the super-structure or severe e<posure conditions for the sub-structure and to satisfy a fire rating of , hrs. 8.! STABILITY OF STRUCTURE 7or the purpose of stability of the structure as a whole against overturning8 the restoring moment shall not be less than $., times the ma<imum overturning moments due to dead load plus $.- times the ma<imum overturning moments due to imposed loads. In case where dead load provides the restoring moments only /.& times in dead shall be ignored. The factor of safety against sliding shall not be less than $.-/ 7actor of safety against buoyancy shall be not less than $.,/ ignoring the superimposed loading. 9.!
