common core summit

PROGRAM
Wednesday, August 28, 2013 7:00pm | McHenry County College Hosted by Congressman Randy Hultgren

Welcome.
Thank you for joining me and our community of educators, administrators, thought leaders and parents to have an open and honest discussion about one of our most important concerns: our childrens education. No discussion of education should be held without parents and community involvement. As all of us in Illinois try to grapple with a struggling education system, we must do everything we can to make sure our kids are ready for college and the workforce. My goal tonight is for us to have a discussion of all aspects of the Common Core State Standards. In 2010, Illinois adopted the standards and plans to complete implementation by the end of the 2014-2015 school year. We want to hear from all sides of the issue so that we all can become better educated and leave with a clearer view of the impact the standards will have on our childrens future. Thank you for coming!
