Reflection:
I am currently teaching Primary School English Language where I am dealing with children aged between 7-8 years old. As we all known, Malaysia is an Asian country with Malay Language as its mother tongue which brings English Language to the second stack. So do Japanese which I believe the same situation refers. Therefore, it is quite challenging to teach English Language Education to the native speakers especially young learners. This proposed study is all about to provide a simple method for them to start reading & writing easily through phonics.
Introduction:
Generally known, phonics has been widely used in primary education as it is one of the best methods for teaching reading and writing the English Language. The main reason to practice phonics in school basis as early in primary education is certainly to develop
RANCANGAN PENGAJARAN DAN PEMBELAJARAN HARIAN learners' phonemic awareness which includes the ability to listen to, identify and manipulating phonemes before they start to learn reading. Psychologically, children will find out it is a lot easier to read as they know how to manipulate the phonemes correctly. This also will bring up their level of confidence at reading which is the focus of this research.
Draft Planning:
Assessment: Pre & Post assessment will be done for data collection. A quick review will be made before hand in order to test the children basic knowledge of phonics. This review shall be used for level checking so that the standard instruments can be produced respectively. This research will be carried out within three semesters schooling accordingly. First semester: Listening & speaking
Objectives:
By the end of the first semester schooling, children will be able to pronounce words & speak confidently with correct stress, rhythm & intonation. By the end of the second semester schooling, children will be able to apply knowledge of sounds of letters to recognize words & read independently. By the end of third semester schooling, children will be able to form words & simple sentence structures & punctuate correctly.
