By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to write and present ideas through a variety of media using appropriate language, form and style.

Learning Standard:

3.3.1 Able to create simple texts using a variety of media with guidance: (a) non-linear (b) linear

Learning Objective:

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: a) Write at least 5 steps on producing their product in 5 different sentences. b) Describe the important features of their product. Example : color, function, shape, etc. c) Use sequence connectors correctly in their writing. Example : Firstly, next, afterwards, and finally.

Activity:

Building your creations

Procedure: Teacher activity 1. Teacher shows pictures on examples of innovative creations. E.g. Buildings, vehicles, etc. 2. Teacher asks questions to students regarding the pictures that have been shown. E.g. What is the name of the creation? Why is the creation important? Where is the creation used? Who is the creator? How is the creation used? 3. Teacher divides the students into groups of five. 4. Teacher provides each with lego building bricks. 5. Teacher instructs students to create their own creation of any choice. 6. Teacher instructs students to write the steps in creating their creation. 7. Teacher asks students to review their writing within their group. 8. Teacher shows an example of procedural writing, and introduces sequence connectors. Materials: 1. Lego building bricks 2. Pictures of innovative creations Student activity Students respond to teachers questions. Students create their creation by using the lego building bricks in their respective groups. Students write down the steps in creating their creation. Students review their writing within their group. Students then review their writing based on the example shown by the teacher. Students rewrite their writing work using sequence connectors.

Rationale:

1. Cooperative learning is incorporated in this activity. 2. Students are given the opportunity to express their personal ideas without the use of a model text. 3. Through using tactile approach of learning, students can expand their learning skills.

Evaluation Strategies: 1. Observe the work progress of the students, emphasizing on the elaboration of their ideas in writing without criticizing, giving them to have authority on their writing. 2. Through discussion, the teacher can show a model text for the students to get an idea on the organization of the ideas, helping them to reproduce a better work. 3. Teacher will observe the writings of the students, especially on the part of using sequence connectors.

Review 1. Behavioral lesson objectives should be measurable and not a general remark. 2. Provide a rationale for the activities designed for the students, imply teaching theories. 3. Have evaluation strategies to enable assessment and strategies should adhere to the lesson objectives stated. 4. Lesson objectives should be specific as to what items that are going to be taught in the lesson. 5. Procedures should be well planned and sequenced to act as a proper guideline when executing the lesson plan.
