1.3 Class:
They are 8 students in the class and each student has at least the certificate of diploma in
the Telecommunications. The learning level of the students has major different.
Performances are Ahmed Al-Harbi and Ibrahim Ali . They participate very actively in class.
Their contribution to teaching are good to very good. The work order and homework get
quickly accepted. Also the presentation of results should be assessed positively. And we
can see that in the right of average score of students in general very good.

1.4 College:
I will teach the class ICT-TE7 and this lesson doesnt need to workshop because its
theory lesson and we need in this class some equipment like computer, projector and
whiteboard. I will have many uses to make the lesson interesting. Also I will use motivation
in class. It will be at the beginning of the lesson and this will make the lesson more
interaction and also I will use Power Point slides, whiteboard and some exercises. It will
help to deliver the knowledge to the trainee easily and I will show pictures to make the
lesson understandable. Also I will give the trainee handout has a specific information
about basic of Optical Laws.

1.5 Classroom:
The classroom 1.260 for this lesson in VP building and the lesson will starts at 9.50 am. I have
theory lecture to have a good class using extra equipment: Whiteboard, Projector and
Computer. We must check the media that we need it in our lesson before 2 days.

2. Didactical Planning:
2.1 Curriculum Analysis:
Our topic is basic of communication about FM (Transmission and Reception)it belong to
the course name (Fundamentals of Telecommunication) which code is (ICT- BVF-
4.1). It has 5 credit hours and it has also 4 hours of lecture. And 2 hours' workshop.
Cures description:
The course covers an introduction to communication principles and fundamentals,
including different types of modulation and demodulation techniques. Also, the effect of
noise on signal transmission is described.
General objective:
At the end this course, the trainees will be able to understand block diagrams, describing
different modulation methods and frequency division techniques. Also they will have the
ability to understand relationship between signal, modulation, FM.
Name the unit:
Modulation transmission and reception.
Specific course : Frequency modulation transmitter.
Specific objective of the course ?
The process of sending message.
The trainee knows types of signals Digital and Analog.
Deal with modulation and demodulator.
Make trainee understanding the process of frequency modulation.

2.2 Content analysis:
Frequency Modulation (FM)
In frequency modulation, the amplitude of the modulated carrier signal is kept constant while its
frequency is varied by the modulating message signal.
The carrier frequency is controlled at each instant by the voltage of the modulating signal.
The frequency of the modulated signal is increased if the input signal is positive, whereas the
frequency is reduced if the input signal is negative.

Frequency Modulation (FM)
For the frequency modulation, the phase of the modulated signal can be modified as
Then, the frequency modulated signal is

where is the peak frequency deviation.

modulating signal.

Modulated Signal Frequency

Frequency modulated signals are classified into two categories based on the value of
modulation index
Narrow Band Frequency Modulation (NBFM)
For small values of the frequency modulation index ( <<1), we have Narrow Band Frequency
Modulation (NBFM).
Wide Band Frequency Modulation (NBFM)
As the modulation index increases, the signal occupies more bandwidth.
In this case the modulation scheme is called Wide Band Frequency Modulation (WBFM).

Signal:
A signal is a physical quantity which varies with respect to time, space & contains information from
source to destination.

Modulation
* What is modulation?
\Modulation is the process of modifying one of the parameters of a signal, called carrier, according
to the message signal.
The modulation are grouped into the following types
-Analog. -Pulse modulation.
-Digital. -Baseband

Page 7

*Analog modulation
Message signal is analog
Carrier is a sinusoidal signal
*Types of analog modulation:
-AM
-FM
-PM.

Prior knowledge:
The last lesson is about transmission and reception. The trainees are can understand the
amplitude modulation and the range.
The next lesson I will talk about (FDM) frequency division multiplexing, to make the
trainees participating in forming data and deal with it.

2.3 Didactic analysis:
The signal come from telecommunication system and there is types of signal are analog signal
and digital signal.
What is modulation:
Is process modifying one of perimeters and there is types belong to the modulation
( analog ).
Frequency modulation is process of signals to be message.

Deductive:
-To know the real meaning between analog signal and digital signal.
Analytical-synthetic:
Make group to read general information about the modulation and relationship between
modulated and demodulated .

To make the trainees interest to our topic by show them picture about old message and
make example how to send the message in old time.

To make the lesson understandable by explain communication system on whiteboard and
trainees write trainer on worksheet, make the trainee come out and explain or write on
whiteboard.

To activate the trainee by ask them some questions and make them discuss each other to
explain about modulated and demodulated.
