Frequency Modulation (FM)
For FM, maximum or minimum frequency deviation takes place at negative or positive peaks of the
modulating signal.

Modulated Signal Frequency
Frequency modulated signals are classified into two categories based on the value of
modulation index
Narrow Band Frequency Modulation (NBFM)
For small values of the frequency modulation index ( <<1), we have Narrow Band Frequency
Modulation (NBFM).
Wide Band Frequency Modulation (NBFM)
As the modulation index increases, the signal occupies more bandwidth.
In this case the modulation scheme is called Wide Band Frequency Modulation (WBFM).

Signal:
A signal is a physical quantity which varies with respect to time, space & contains information from
source to destination.
Modulation
* What is modulation?
\Modulation is the process of modifying one of the parameters of a signal, called carrier, according
to the message signal.
The modulation are grouped into the following types
-Analog. -Pulse modulation.
-Digital. -Baseband
Page 7
*Analog modulation
Message signal is analog
Carrier is a sinusoidal signal
*Types of analog modulation:
-AM
-FM
-PM.
Prior knowledge:
The last lesson is about transmission and reception. The trainees are can understand the
amplitude modulation and the range.
The next lesson I will talk about (FDM) frequency division multiplexing, to make the
trainees participating in forming data and deal with it.

2.3 Didactic analysis:
The signal come from telecommunication system and there is types of signal are analog signal
and digital signal.
What is modulation:
Is process modifying one of perimeters and there is types belong to the modulation
( analog ).
Frequency modulation is process of signals to be message.
Deductive:
-To know the real meaning between analog signal and digital signal.
Analytical-synthetic:
Make group to read general information about the modulation and relationship between
modulated and demodulated .
To make the trainees interest to our topic by show them picture about old message and
make example how to send the message in old time.
To make the lesson understandable by explain communication system on whiteboard and
trainees write trainer on worksheet, make the trainee come out and explain or write on
whiteboard.
To activate the trainee by ask them some questions and make them discuss each other to
explain about modulated and demodulated.
