GUIDELINES FOR DISSERTATION (MECS-752) 1.

OBJECTIVE The objective of dissertation is solution of a challenging practical problem in research or industry by the student, which prepares him/her to take up technical assignments and responsibilities in his/her professional career. The work done by the student should be such that it is an original solution by the student to the selected problem in research or industry. For M. TECH. SELECTION OF TO4IC !tudents are re&uested to select the topic in consultation with their respective guide/supervisor. The student's guide may assign a practical problem to solve in case the guide desires so. The students are directed to work as per the instructions given by (uide/!upervisor. 5. S6NO4SIS The synopsis should be about two pages long and must be submitted as a hard copy to the teacher)in)charge as well as guide on or before the announced date. There will be ppt/viva of 2 minutes followed by 2 minutes of &uestion answers session in each defense. 5. MID TERM EVALUATION

There will be two midterm evaluations mostly in the weeks in which minor e3ams are held in the *niversity. The students will get their mid)term report(hard copy$ signed by their guides as per the progress made by them and prepare a 4ower4oint presentation to be presented before the coordinators on the announced date. 2.+ 5uring first defense student will have to come prepared with a report consisting of following items, (a$ 0eview of literature related to the proposed work. (b$ lear identification of the problem proposed in the synopsis submitted. (c$ 6nowledge of soft tolls (if used$.
2.7 5uring second defense student will have to come prepared with a report consisting of following items, (a$ !ome simulation results/data comparison/analysis of results. (b$ 5raft of research paper for publication. At the time of thesis submission, student should have communicated or published paper in any journal/conference. ;. The student will submit three hard bound copies of his/her report signed by the guide in the prescribed format.

FINAL EVALUATION #n addition to preparing a report(hard copy$ in above mentioned format the student will prepare a 4ower4oint presentation to be presented before the panel of coordinators/ e3ternal/ internal e3perts on the announced date. The student may be asked to demonstrate the system developed by him/her before the panel.

GUIDELINES FOR SEMINAR & PROGRESS REPORT (MECS-754) 1. OBJECTIVE The objective of Seminar is to motivate the student to take up a topic of his choice relevant to the course of study. Apart from gaining sound conceptual understanding of the technical content of the topic, the student will also be evaluated for his/her presentation skills before a panel of experts and fellow students. 2. INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS All the students of M. Tech. ( !"/#T/" "$ %th !emester have to follow the following guidelines for completing their seminar . progress report work. 3. SELECTION OF SEMINAR TOPIC t is student!s responsibility to find a relevant topic for his/her seminar in consultation with their guide/ supervisor. "owever, the topic may be assigned by the guide in case the guide desires so. The seminar topic, which the student takes up, must be an advanced topic that has not been a part of the curriculum. GUIDELINES FOR TERM PAPER-IV (MECS-758) 1. OBJECTIVE The objective of term paper is knowledge ac7uisition by the student on a self study basis by carrying out an in depth study of a selected topic. The student should gain a sound conceptual understanding of the technical content of the selected topic. 2. INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS 3. SELECTION OF SEMINAR TOPIC t is the student!s responsibility to find a relevant topic for his/her term paper in consultation with guide/ supervisor. "owever, the topic may be assigned by the guide in case the guide desires so. The term paper topic, which the student takes up, may be in the ambit of curriculum. The student wishes can take up a topic on new trends in research in computer science/information technology/8*8 or perform some relevant original work that could be extended to a projects, that is most welcome. 4. S4NOPSIS The term paper synopsis should be about one page long and must be submitted as a hard copy to the teacher#in#charge as well as the concerned guide on or before the announced date. t must include the title of work, selected papers and other literature .
