-----------------------------------------------What is the Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC)? YDC is a federally incorporated Canadian non-profit organization whose mission is to engage young Canadian leaders in diplomatic education and training at an international level through access to hands-on global initiatives. Every year, we recruit students and young professionals to represent Canada at annual summit events, such as the Y8 and Y20 Summits. In 2014, YDC is expanding its exclusive educational offerings to include the 2014 Nuclear Knowledge Summit and the OECD Forum 2014. About the OECD FORUM 2014:
Held in Paris each May to coincide with the annual OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, the OECD Forum has emerged as a major international stakeholder summit. Leaders from all sectors of civil society gather to debate the most pressing social and economic challenges confronting society. Since its creation in 2000, more than 18,000 people have already exchanged ideas and experiences. In 2013, there were
1,520 participants from 63 countries 176 speakers, among which Ministers, CEOs, trade unions, international organisations, civil society representatives 260 journalists

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS - Please read carefully To be a Canadian delegate, you must: be a Canadian citizen or attend/have attended a Canadian educational institution at the post-secondary level (i.e. college or university); be a current post-secondary student, 2nd year CEGEP student or recent post-secondary graduate; and be under the age of 30. Participation Fees: There are no participation fees. The event fees are included in the invitation. Expected Costs: Delegates are responsible for their international travel, accommodation, transit costs, and travel insurance. In sum: you are responsible for all expected costs. This is a pay your own way leadership opportunity.
DELEGATE RESPONSIBILITIES Being selected by YDC to represent Canadian youth as a delegate at an international summit brings with it significant responsibilities that you will assume with a high degree of professionalism, seriousness and attentive respect. Canadian delegates at the OECD Forum will be expected to agree to the following list of possible tasks and responsibilities: 1. Research and write an estimated minimum 750-word policy paper on a topic related to the OECD Forum for which you were selected to represent Canada, which you understand will be published on the Young Diplomats of Canada blog for dissemination, discussion and debate; 2. Attend in person, electronically, or by phone, at least or the delegation meetings held before the OECD Forum and, whether I attend or not, will continually communicate with the Delegation and YDC team coordinators to ensure that I understand all current affairs prior to the OECD Forum; 3. Provide written, audio, picture and/or video commentary before, during and after the OECD Forum for YDC to use for promotional and educational purposes, social media publications, press releases, blog posts and any other purposes; 4. Represent YDC as an Ambassador of YDC at other events for the term of one (1) year commencing at the date of selection, if possible, when requested by the YDC and to the best of your abilities; and, 5. Actively participate in all requests for your assistance and respond promptly and diligently to all official correspondence, emails, Facebook messages and any other electronic communications from the Delegation, YDC or other related entities. By applying, you will have agreed to these possible tasks and responsibilities should you be selected to represent Canada at the event. Please consider this before submitting your application.

Submit your resume/CV (we accept CVs in English and French) via email, outlining your relevant academic and extra-curricular experience. (Instructions below) 2. Save your resume/CV using the following format: Firstname_Lastname_DocumentType (e.g.: John_Smith_Resume). 3. E-mail your resume/CV to apply@youngdiplomats.ca using the following format as the subject title: Firstname_Lastname_University (e.g. John_Smith_McGill). If you are no longer a student, list your city of residence instead.
