Positive news for job seekers as report
highlights increase in posts in all sectors
CONSTRUCTION jobs double year-on-year
and a job application made every 1.2 seconds,
as the UK job market shows significant signs
of growth according to latest report from
CV-Library.
The first quarterly report of 2014 from the
UKs leading independent job board shows
numbers of job postings, applications, job
searches and CV registrations are up, and
highlights impressive performance of key
industries.
The report shows that in the first three
months of the year, CV-Library saw more
than 48million job searches and more than
six million job applications made through
their website, 856,000 new CVs registered,
and more than 300,000 jobs posted.
When compared to Q4 of 2013, there were
22.25 per cent more jobs posted through CV-
Librarys job board network, and the top five
growth industries by jobs posted were leisure
and tourism (+91.98 per cent), management
(+49.91 per cent), medical (+32.92 per cent),
art and design (+32.18 per cent) and construc-
tion (+31.64 per cent).
The industry with the smallest increase, yet
still showing positive growth and more jobs,
was retail (+7.1 per cent).
In terms of year-on-year growth in jobs
posted, there were almost 44 per cent more in
Q1 compared to the same period in 2013, and
construction has seen the biggest increase
since Q1 2013 (+118.36 per cent), whereas IT
based roles showed the smallest growth (+5.41
per cent).
When looking at job seeker activity, again
the results are positive; job searches were
up 51 per cent compared to the same period
in 2013, and the number of CVs being either
newly registered or modified was almost 17
per cent higher than the period before the
turn of the year.
Job seekers also showed greater versatility
in terms of how they search and apply for
roles, with smart phones and other mobile
devices being used more frequently, it is little
surprise that those visiting the CV-Library
website via a smart phone or a connected
device is up 10 per cent since the turn of the
year, and made up 32 per cent of total traffic.
Lee Biggins, managing director of CV-
Library, said: These findings are really posi-
tive for the British economy. There are 22 per
cent more jobs posted compared to the final
quarter of last year, and job seekers are using
all available resources to find that next job.
Key indicator industries such as construc-
tion are showing huge increases, and it is go-
ing to be fascinating to see if the market can
sustain such growth going forward.

EXPERIENCED COPY EDITORS EXPERIENCED COPY EDITORS
Working as part of a team, typical candidates will
be experienced in copy-editing. They must be highly
motivated, have the enthusiasm to cope with short
deadlines and tight turnaround times and the ability
to spot mistakes and write great headlines. A solid
knowledge of the law is also essential.
GR GRADUATE TRAINEE COPY ADUATE TRAINEE COPY EDITORS EDITORS
If you have recently achieved a degree and have
considered a future in publishing or media, we can
offer you a great opportunity of on-job training towards
a copy editing qualication, provided by a leading
university and accredited by a leading body in the
world of journalism. Typically, you may be a graduate
in English, history or similar but you will need to have
plenty of enthusiasm and energy.
GRAPHIC ARTISTS GRAPHIC ARTISTS
Creatively experienced in the use of InDesign, typical
candidates will need to be able to design feature and
page layouts that enhance the editorial and commercial
content supplied. Working to tight deadlines and as part
of a team, this is a great opportunity to gain commercial
experience in a creative environment.
ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR
The successful individual will have experience of
completing administrative tasks in an ofce environment
as well as supporting the general operation.
Suitable applicants will need:
* Previous administrative experience
* Competency in the use of Microsoft Ofce
* Strong time management skills and the ability to deal
with the unexpected
* Ability to work with little to no supervision with a can
do attitude
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Current driving licence
