DESIGN BRIEF For design development of Gergeresh Mall building Project title: Title and building location: Investor: Design Engineer: 001_02_Gergeresh Mall DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Gergeresh Mall Gergeresh Street, Tripoli C_001 Libya Design Tripol

PART 1 OBJECTIVES AND PROJECT PREPARATION SUBJECT According to the client request and urban planning regulations, it is submitted Stage 2 Documentation Package for Gergeresh Mall, Tripoli. As an input data is used previous design stage Concept Design Documentation, and client suggestions, as well as international standards and regulations for the public buildings. PART 2 GENERAL DATA Property boundaries: Proposed property is situated in Gargeresh area and with one side plot is facing Gargaresh Street. Plot is bordered with 3 streets and one neighbour building along its north-west side. Plot/ site area is 1 290,30m2. Existing topography: Topography of the site is slightly sloped and level difference is only 20cm. Ground level is raised 1.2m from the street level, which allows optimum space for entry/ exit access to Garage level. Building location and orientation: Planned building number of oors is BS+GF+4. It is designed as ofce/retail space with open oor plans. Main entrance is from the Gargaresh Street. On the sides are two re escape exits and one service entry. Side streets are used as service streets and as an approach to the Garage level. Access to the Garage is planned through one way entry ramp (with 15% slope) on the west side, while the Exit Garage ramp is on the east side. PART 3 PROJECT PROGRAMME The building reects contemporary style and serves as an area landmark. The building has three visual elements that comprise: (i) Ground oor main access lifted 1.2m from the street level and with the transparent store front pushed back, making passage

corridors from the three building sides. (ii) Four levels uniformly faade structure with representative volume and cantilever faade walls and recessed elds

(iii) Mediamesh communication canvas of innite possibilities. Through digital technology and the visual power of energy-stingy LEDs, everything from branding graphics to video, live broadcast to conceptual art. The Building is designed as ofce/ retail space with exible open oor plans. Ground, First, Second and Third Floor is used as retail space, since Fourth Floor is a Restaurant with roof terrace. Service areas are in the Basement level and in the central building 3. First/ Second/Third Floor core. Vertical communication is achieved with two passengers This is a typical oor, designed as retail space. There will be elevators and with one escalator placed in the middle of the no further division of the retail space as it is considered to be a part building. of tenant work according to his needs. Escalator and elevators are dividing the levels on two symmetrical parts, which allows PART 4 SPACE PLANNING maximum use and exibility of rental space. On each oor there are fully glazed niches covered with 1. Basement mediamesh canvas. Number of niches varies due to faade Basement level is planned as garage and storage space design. with semi-private use. Overall it has 24 parking spaces. Vehicle exit and entrance to the car park is through one way entry/exit ramp. 4. Fourth Floor Trafc is organised by the trac light. Delivery is organised trough Fourth oor is designed to be a Restaurant, with open roof loading platform wich is directly connected with service elevator. terrace. Restaurant (with kitchen) is designed for up to 200 seating Minimum clear height for delivery vehicle is 2.4m. Security control places. is provided through roller shutters doors. Dry garbage collection area is near to the loading platform. Main Electrical room is based in this level. Proposed storage space could be devided as per future tenant request. Additional storage space is below entry/exit ramp. 2. Ground Floor Ground oor is lifted 1.20m from the street level. Proposed is car drop-off in front of the main entrance at the side walk level. Main Entrance is from the front of the building, while the

Service entry and re escape exits are from the side. Service entry is accessible trough the ramp that can be possibly use for car loading in case of ground oor used as car exibition space. Public area contains open retail space, public restrooms and vertical communications. Vertical communication is achieved with escalator and two passengers elevators. Service area forms the building core and it is typical for all oors- with two re-escape stairs, service elevator, storage space and MEP shafts. Service area at the ground oor contains loading bay and the generator room.

Structural grid is set to have ve elds in one direction and three in another one, with the span 8x8.85m and 8x6.5m. On the First oor and upper levels structure is overhanging 3 meters around three sides, without external bracing. Structural material is reinforced in-situ cast concrete. Roof structure on the fourth oor is planned to be with metal structure. Additional building bracing is done by elevators and MEP shafts. PART 6 WALLS AND CEILING FINISHES

PART 12 PROTECTION OF THE BUILDING FROM WATER AND HUMIDITY, SOUND AND HEAT Thermal protection is placed on all thermal border planes and roof construction. Sound protection layer is placed on each slab before screed. Vertical and horizontal hydro insulating works are planned in all necessary places in the building. PART 13 FIRE STRATEGY - MEANS OF WARNING AND ESCAPE Evacuation strategy is based on two re escape stairs with clear staircase width 1.3m, and with escalator d=1.0m. Maximum travel distance (travel is possible in two directions) is 30m. Disabled refuge is provided in each protected stairway at each storey. Fire detection and alarm will be provided throughout the building.
