FOUR
PART
MODEL
OF
CORPORATE
SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY
This portion of the report explains the The UN Global Compact in accordance with the Carrolls four part model of corporate social responsibility. Here, we have tried to explain how the nine principles fit into the Carrolls CSR model, which ones actually fit and have been covered and which ones do not.
Principle 2, 7, 8, 9, 10
Principles 4, 5, 7, 10
Principles 3 and 6
As observed by us, the ethical , legal and economic responsibilities of the member firms have been covered as a part of the model. But, philanthropic responsibilities which mainly cover the corporates discretion to improve the quality of the life of the employees, local communities, society in general like charitable donations, building recreational facilities for the employees and their families, support for local schools, etc. have not been covered in the the UN Global Impact principles indicating the
freedom to the firms to be a part of the same without catering to the very important philanthropic duties of them as major corporations. Thus, in the future, the UN Global Impact should make sure that Philanthropic responsibilities of the organizations should also be given much importance and principles covering the same should be formulated and included as a part of the major principles that helps those organizations to be ethically and socially more responsible towards its stakeholders and society as a whole. Also, under the impact organizations compliance to all the principles should be regularly monitored and based on the same, their credibility and association with the UN Global Impact should be decided. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIVENESS CSR AND STRATEGY Corporate social responsiveness refers to the capacity of a corporation to respond to social pressures. The four strategies of social responsiveness are Reaction Defense Accommodation Pro-action
Under the impact, the corporations accept the responsibility and also do whatever possible for the relevant groups by participating in policy dialogues, partnership projects with governments, public sector agencies, etc to resolve ethical issues. Also, the members pool in funds for tool development particularly to help the developing countries. Thus, making them follow the
accommodation strategies of corporate social responsiveness. Also, under the impact the companies are going beyond what is normally expected of them. Thus, we feel under this Impact, they are also adopting the Pro-action strategy of corporate social responsiveness.
