1. Analyse the operational principles and concepts of power electronic devices and
their characteristics. (PO3)

2. Evaluate the operational principles and concepts of converters, rectifiers and


inverters. (PO3, PO4, PO6) 3. Evaluate and design the industrial application of power electronic devices with elements of sustainability. (PO3, PO4, PO5, PO6, PO7, PO10)

13. Synopsis:
The aim of this module is to demonstrate the opportunities provided by power semiconductors to improve the efficiency and controllability of electrical energy conversion in the control of motors and drives. The DC-DC converters, AC-AC converters, AC/DC rectifiers and DC/AC inverters will be described including pulse width modulation techniques. The use of power electronic circuits in major industrial applications is also covered.
