Throughout my life I have always been interested in math, science and the way things work. At one point I took a quick tangent and tried the arts, music and dance to see if I had an interest in them, without much success. Quickly heading back to my previous interest, I began to use an objective approach on all parts of my life. I believe everyone uses the subjective approach in their life, however, due to being interested in how things work, how they move, and how everything came to be through science I have created myself to be an analytical, observant and organized human being. Communication is used every day and one must use one type of communication consistently. Group communication is a communication I use daily and intend to apply it into my life, and career as a web programmer. Math, one of the most organized and scientific work in the world is a natural gift given to a select few, such as myself. I love math due to its organized complexity but using its basic rules and guidelines to solve the biggest mysteries we know. Math is used in everyday life, without many peoples knowledge. We all use math every day; to predict weather, to tell time, to handle money. Math is more than formulas or equations; its logic, its rationality, its using your mind. Math uses the scientific method to help prove different things; physics, chemistry. Being an objective thinker states that you are very scientifically driven; by loving math, I show how I am scientifically driven. Being scientifically driven requires me to use the scientific method quite often. Many would see me analyzing situations, even if they dont require it. Analyzing situations to me, allows me to see the pros and cons of a decision, action or activity. Some may refer this to thinking, instead of acting. Having the ability to think, before I act, allows me to avoid difficult situations where harm or danger may come into play. Many times, evaluating what shall come

to pass, if something occurs, allows me to help my defenses against certain dangers; fights with my family, financial debt, etc... Not only being able to analyze everything, I am quite observant, not only with my eyes, but with hearing noises and sounds. Combining these two different parts of the scientific method in my life allows me to ensure qualities, such as detail oriented, that many people want for jobs and careers. A career that requires these two traits in their workers would be computer science. Computer science, a broad field of the way to make computers work, has a very set way of how things can go to make other items work. Programming, specifically web programming, uses specific words, or symbols, to let the user alter the output. Programming, like math, has a very strict way of doing things. Either you do it the right way, or the highway. Having this philosophy behind programming, and math, it shows how one must be able to use these different factors to create and maximize programming in its potential. I love to program for having this strict basis. Everyone has to do it all the same way. There isnt three thousand ways to do one thing, or having to create a story out of your mind. Its simple, but complex. Programming, mostly done in groups of different individuals, requires this people to work together to develop the same item in different parts. They all must use each others mind to help promote their own work. Group communication, especially the work of Hirokawa & Gouran, requires the group to fulfill four task requirements to reach a high-quality solution. The group, of programmers, must find the Analysis of the Problem, or the change they are required to make to a certain program. These individuals must work together to decipher the best way to make this requirement improved. Secondly, this group must have Goals set. Goals, even in life, are
2

important to set when it comes to a group trying to finish a project separated in different sections. This ensures that all parts are completed in a timely manner and finished at the same time. Following goals, the group must have Identification of Alternatives, or, in other words, have different options in how to complete the project. Lastly, the group must Evaluate Positive and Negative Characteristics. After finding the options that they have, the programmers mu st weigh the benefits and costs to ensure maximum efficiency with their ideas. My career as a programmer will consist of many improvements and changes to certain sites, designs, software and even registries that will require groups to work with. Group communication will not only benefit myself in this career, but will also benefit my home life. As with my wife and family, well be able to decide on projects that require thought and planning to ensure its accuracy and effectiveness. Many subjective thinkers see objective thinkers as pessimists, instead of optimists, due to being stuck and not having an imagination. However, I dont see myself as a pessimist. I see myself as an individual who wants organization and complex simplicity in life. Having these different desires, and behaviors, using self-analysis, I see myself as an objective thinker.
