Which s !"# P$%&%'i&(! ch%ic ) '%* $&i+,) (&* s !" c(+ -%$i.(+i%& INTRO0UCTION The background of this study is to examine the factors in shifting the use of Indonesian first pronoun, aku and saya. The research starts with the theory that aku is intimate and informal pronoun for interpersonal domains and saya is neutral and formal pronoun for public contexts which contradicts with the realities of nowadays use of these pronouns by the celebrities. They tend to use aku in public context and it is somehow quite accepted by the public. Since it is used by the celebrities, it creates a great chance for the societies to imitate them. owe!er, the choice of using aku and saya !aries depending on the personal "celebrities# moti!ation. MET1O0 The researcher applies descripti!e method in analy$ing the data, with the steps as follow% &ollecting the data of celebrities inter!iews in nine tele!ision broadcasts, totaling six hours of airtime from 'ecember ())* to +anuary ()),. Therefore, it creates an impression that the use of these pronouns can be analy$ed easily. owe!er, it isnt a static matter and simple process but a dynamic one that it may be shifted by the speakers during the same type speech situation and addressees.
