How did you spend your time this week? What responsibilities did you have? a) I was responsible for the leading the science starter every day. Most of the days last week this included introducing the video, monitoring the students during the video, directing reflection question from the video, and leading discussion of answers to the reflection questions. b) I was responsible for greeting students at the door and monitoring the hall during passing time. c) I was responsible for taking attendance from Ms. Gibbs computer. d) I was responsible for going to the main office and operating the printer to make copies. e) I was responsible for leading L to J, which is a weekly vocabulary quiz. 2. What were your most satisfying AND your most challenging experiences? a) My most satisfying experiences were students responding to me. It was very satisfying for students to respond to my discussion and reflection questions. It was also very satisfying to hear students creative and reflective ideas about their global footprint and environmental impact. b) My most challenging experiences were definitely classroom management. The last period of the day is especially hard to manage, however, I assume this is probably because it is the last period and the students are burnt out from the day. Getting to know the students who are quiet is also a challenge because they do not automatically open up. I hope to improve at engaging them. 3. What are the plans for the upcoming week? The plans for the upcoming week are to finish up topics on environmental science. One day we will have the students look at images of families around the world and compare the amount of food people in different nations eat. This will help students reflect on how much we have in America. On another day we will have the students watch a movie about a polar bear encountering the polar ice cap melting. This will help students think about the effects of global warming. Another day we will also look at data of global temperatures and levels of carbon dioxide to discuss how scientists think about global warming. We will also spend another day thinking about the great pacific garbage patch. Future Action: Throughout the next few weeks I desire to be build better relationships with the students in the last period of the day to ensure mutual

respect. I will also work to be consistent in my expectations and discipline of each class period to improve my classroom management. Student Teaching Weekly Log Week 2/17/2014-2/21/2014
