Mission of the North Iowa SPIN Race Team and Mason City MultiSport
The purpose of the North Iowa SPIN Race Team (NI SPIN) and Mason City MultiSport (MC2)
is to promote good health, friendships and safety while offering competitive cycling to all ages
and skill levels in North Iowa. The North Iowa SPIN/MC2 Race Team is committed to
excellence in athletics at all levels with a life-long participation in the sport. The goal is to
promote a positive image of cycling and related multisports to all those who interact with us.
The team is focused on creating an environment where athletes can develop their own skills and
abilities.

Sponsors invest money to promote their businesses and the sport of bicycle and multisport
racing. By signing this contract you agree to patronize the sponsors and promote the sport
of bicycle racing and multisports.

By submitting this Athlete Agreement, you must agree to and understand the following:
* You have to WANT to be on the team and compete in competitive events of your choice
* Join the North Iowa Touring Club (Annual Membership: $15/$20) and the North Iowa SPIN Race
Team/MC2 (Annual Membership: $15) by completing a NITC membership application and this
Athlete Agreement.
* Purchase a current team kit and wear the kit during all organized rides and races in which you
participate. Riders will only compete for NI SPIN/MC2 unless given an exemption by the team
president for a specific race or event. Riders may not ride on behalf of any other team unless
exempted.
Riders may petition the team president in writing for release from their contract with NI SPIN/MC2.
Decision on whether to release a rider will be made within 72 hours of receiving the petition. Riders who
are released from the team before December 31, 2008, will forfeit all earned team benefits.
* Maintain an annual racing license with a sanctioned organization.
* Volunteer for locally organized events.
* Wear a helmet whenever on a bike, with or without the team, while out of doors
* Obey all traffic rules and regulations. Don’t provoke or react to motorists. Ride Safely.
* Competive racing and training is potentially dangerous. You may be seriously injured or
killed while training or racing. Nationally and locally, riders are seriously injured and killed
each year. The team will take reasonable efforts to minimize risk, but it is impossible to
eliminate all risk.
* Sponsors and NI SPIN/MC2 may use your photo or video images of you for publicity and
marketing without compensation, and you agree to cooperate with all publicity and marketing
efforts.
* Participate on a regular basis in NI SPIN/MC2 events, races, training events and meetings.

Any NI SPIN/MC2 member who violates any of these terms is subject to suspension or
expulsion from the team without warning, and will forfeit all team benefits earned. The team
officers, recognized by USA Cycling or related , will make decisions as to suspensions and
expulsions. Your signature below indicates you have read the above contract, together with any
addendums, and agree to abide by all their terms. By signing this contract you acknowledge
you understand training and competing in bicycle racing are potentially dangerous
activities. You agree to hold NI SPIN, its members, officers, sponsors, and all other
persons and organizations associated with NI SPIN harmless should you be injured or
killed. Further, by signing this contract you agree to bind yourself, your heirs and all
personal representatives. The time period of this contract shall commence on the date
signed through December 31, 2008.

* We provide discounts at local shops and through national name brands. See our current list of
sponsors for products that are provided to us as a team.
* We are seeking to develop a sense of community and support. No matter what type of racing
in which you wish to participate, it is possible to always share the cost of racing.
* We support all types of racing. Whether you race road bikes, compete in multisport events,
time trials, triathlons, hill climbs, endurance mountain bike races, cross-country mountain bike
races, cycle-cross, single speed, endurance, and etc., you are welcome on our team. We will
never define the types of races in which you must compete. We trust your choice will make you
a happier and more passionate cyclist.

Qualified NISPIN/MC2 Team members are defined as members in good standing and have
maintained the rider’s contract during the past year to include:
1. Maintained annual membership with NITC and NI SPIN/MC2.
2. Purchased a current team kit and donned during all race events.
3. Maintained an annual racing license with a sanctioned organization.
4. Race in three sanctioned races.
5. Volunteered for locally organized events to include the Clear Lake BBBQ Races.

Qualified NISPIN/MC2 Members will be eligible for the following incentives:

1. Purchase of all team clothing at cost.
2. $50 cash discount toward the purchase of a NI team kit.
3. Race reimbursement of up to $100. All races after the third sanctioned competitive
event qualify for race reimbursement.

All Proceeds from NISPIN/MC2 Will Help to Benefit Others in Our Community
