Our Excretory System

Maneerat & Supatchar

ORGANS OF EXCRETION
Excretion is the process by which the body collects and removes wastes. Several organs in our body are involved in waste collection and removal, including the liver, lungs, skin, and kidney.

Liver
The River forms urea, form a harmful product of protein breakdown, Its can transported via blood to the kidneys. Some substances of the liver become part of bile, it aiding fat digestion in the small intestine, bile is eliminated from the body stool.

Lungs and Skin

The lungs remove carbon dioxide and some water from our body. Sweat glands in the skin excreted water and urea in perspiration.

Kidneys
We have two kidneys, it is the major organs of excretion. Filter urea and other wastes from the blood. It changes it as urine, a watery fluid that contains urea and other wastes. Then send through the other organs out from the body.

The kidney also involved water balance, controlled by hormones sent from the brain, depending on the temperature and other variables. For example when the temperature goes high we have to sweat a lot and drink little water, so the kidneys will not release much water.

Filtration of wastes
Each kidney contains nephrons, tiny filtering units that remove wastes and produce urine. The nephrons filter wastes in stages. First, both needed materials and wastes are filtered from the blood. Then most needed materials are returned to the blood, and the wastes are eliminated from the body.

Blood enters the kidneys, flows through smaller and smaller blood vessels until it reaches a cluster of tiny blood vessels called glomerulus. Some proteins and blood cells usually remain in the blood because they are too large to pass through the walls of the glomerulus.

Formation of Urine
The filtered materials passes through the glomelurus, and most needed materials like water and glucose passes from the tube and goes back to the blood.

Urea, excess vitamins and other harmful substances stays in the tube. The fluid that remains in the tube is urine. Then urine is drained into larger a tube called ureter, which is carried from a kidney to the bladder.

Keeping Healthy
To help your kidney function properly and for you to be healthy, you should drink a lot of water, and see the doctor as soon as possible.

Drinking Water
Drinking plenty of water to flush out buildup in the kidneys will also help prevent any type of kidney stone from forming. Medicines may also be an option for calcium.

Treating Infections
The most important component of treating kidney infection is timely initiation of antibiotics under the directions of a health care professional.

Preventing Kidney Stones

Kidney stones are like pebble like masses of salts, and often calcium, that form in the kidneys. When kidney stones become stuck, they are very painful. Drinking water helps you and reduces risks.

Treating Kidney Failure

If the kidneys fail, it is possible to replace their function using dialysis, an artificial way of getting rid of toxins. When your kidneys fail, dialysis keeps your body in balance by

removing waste, salt and extra water to prevent them from building up in the body keeping a safe level of certain chemicals in your blood, such as potassium, sodium and bicarbonate helping to control blood pressure
