Preference for Procedural Order Surprisingly, with this assignment we found out that we all preference for procedural order. We came to the conclusion that on a regular basis most of us arent quite as strict with sticking to order but the assignment asked for us to look at our next assignment to see how we would want it to be handled; which we did in some ways. Similarities within the group is that we all prefer an organized setting, the conflict that we discovered is that we all organize things a different way. An example of this is when our group decided to make a list of things that should be accomplished by the day of our event on campus for the group project. The struggle we had was that Courtney wanted to organize the list by the most time consuming things first and Epiphany wanted to complete the more simple tasks first so we would have more done before the event. From the How You Act in Conflicts worksheet we learned that Courtney is a more forceful individual it caused Epiphany to withdraw from the situation and Courtney got her way. The goal of the Conflicts worksheet was to show us that although our group is well balanced in having one person from each category, we all need to strive to be an equal amount of each. We will try and avoid conflict by trying to get Epiphany to speak her mind more in group meetings so she doesnt end up feeling left out and so her opinions are heard. We also are trying to make sure that Perri and Rachel are more forceful so they can show more of a leadership role and voice their opinions as well. Also, for everyone else to speak up more in group, Dustin and Courtney are going to have to not be as forceful by having Perri

tell us when we are being too demanding. We are giving her this role because she is the smoothing individual in the group. The main difference we have in the group is whether or not side bar conversations are acceptable. Throughout this semester we have all gotten closer which makes it more difficult not to get off topic sometimes. Most of us are Laissez-faire when it comes to side conversations while Dustin is more of an authoritarian leader in the sense that he wants to be as productive as possible while we are there. Therefore, if any of us are off topic he will give us a nonverbal expressive eye contact which tells us that he is annoyed with the way we are using our meeting time and we need to focus. This will also reduce time conflicts within the group because if we are having less unnecessary conversations we will focus more on the tasks at hand.
