I calculated the measures of spread. The first measure of spread I did was standard deviation. When you find the standard deviation you find the mean of the data set ,( which is above). Then find the deviation of each value of the mean, meaning how far away is the number from the mean. Next square each deviation. Then you add all of the squared deviations, and divide it by one less than all the number (n-1). Finally you take the square root (seen below). The second measure of spread I did was 5 number summary. To find the 5 number summary you find the minimum number in the data set. Then you find the maximum in the data set. Next you find Q1, and Q3 between the median when the data set is broken up in half (seen below). The third measure of spread i did was the range. When you find the range you subtract the minimum from the maximum (seen below). The fourth and final measure of spread i did was the interquartile range. when you find the interquartile range you just subtract Q1 from Q3
(seen below).
I also collected the data and put them in graph form. The first graph I did was a dot plot. When you do a dot plot you just put a dot on top of the number (As seen on last page). The second graph I did was the box plot. In order to do the box plot you need to make a number line. Then you put the median, Q1, Q3 where the numbers aethe make a box and connect them (As seen on last page). The third and final graph I did was the histogram. When I did the histogram I made a bar graph showing how many hours are people on facebook (As seen on last page). I collected data on How many hours have you spent on facebook? I've asked every second person and 30 people in total, how many hours do they spent on facebook. When I collected my data i got an outlier of 18 this is the outlier because it is furthest away from all the numbers in the data set. I made sure not to collect data in a bias way.
