.,APTER I INTRODU.TION 1.1 Ba2*3o'nLanguage Testing of Assesment is the one of subject in English Department which teach us about making an assessment and making a test items for students. In the previous project we were asked to analy e the sample of items from the school! here we get the Elementary "chool as our object to take the sample of test. And now we were asked by our lecturer to make our own test items and testing it to the school that have been choose by us as the object. #ot only that! the purpose of this study is to analy e the test items that have been made by us is a good test items for student or not. In this paper! we have to tested our items in the previous school where we take the sample of test. The test was given to the third grade of $I AL% $AT&LA'AT(L )&*I+I,A&. $I AL%$AT&LA'AT(L )&*I+I,A& places at -l. -ambu +aya ./! "ukorejo 0illage! 1resik. 2e test the items in this school because we have take a sample of test items which the kind of test is midterm test in the fourth grade. "o that we know well with the teacher and the school before. And we choose this school to be the object of our test! because this school near by our place. The type of this test is English try out test for Elementary "chool. And we need to take the data from this school by make a permission to the headmaster and the teacher. 'ecause the permission is very important for us to do our data collection in the school. The headmaster and the English teacher allowed us to take the data because the test we gave is very usefull and will give advantages for the student. This try out test held on "aturday! December .3 th 4/.5. It is collected from 46 students in the third grade of $I AL%$AT&LA'AT(L )&*I+I,A&. 2e believe that many things should be analy ed by some way to see how good this test for the student based on the syllabus. 2e will analy e this test from three kind of analysis! "urface Analysis! 0alidity and +eliability Analysis! and Item Analysis. In the "urface Analysis we try to analy e and see some good and bad

structure based on five things! the heading of the test! the identity! the instruction! the font! and the writing aspect of the test. In the 0alidity and +eliability Analysis we try to analy e based on 7ontent and 8ace 0alidity. This test consist of 5 parts! part A! part '! and part 7. In the part A! there are 5/ items multiple choice with . stem and 3 option for each items. And part '! there are ./ items subjective. And part 7! there are 9 items subjective essay test. 1.$ A2ti4ities Pro3ress In this activities progress! we try to list some activities activities that we do before testing the items! during testing the items and after testing the items. 'efore we testing the items! we need to discuss with the english teacher at the school and asking for aggrement from the headmaster of the school. After that! we start to make the test items that we will tested to students of third grade in the school. After testing the items! we have to discuss the result of it. In this activities progress! we need to list oll pf the progress! write down the person in charge :;I7< while the activities run! and sometime we need to write the hindrance of the activity. ,ou can see the table of activities progress that have been done by us in the Appendi= ..

.,APTER II DIS.USSION In this chapter! we start to discuss in group about the items that have been tested to the student based on its "urface Analysis! 0alidity of the test! and Items Analysis. $.1 SURFA.E ANAL/SIS "urface analysis is the first analysis for the surface of the test or test sheets appearance. It covers for the heading! the identity! instruction! the font and the writing aspect that use in the test sheet. Those things become the characteristic of the test>s appearance to measure the formal value of the test. $.1.1 T(e ,ea-in3 The heading is the part of test sheet which appear in the top of first sheet. (sually the heading tell about the type of test! school identity and the education year. 2e conclude that the heading of this test is good enough and clear for the students! because teacher write the name of the "chool and the Address completely. $.1.$ T(e I-entity The identity is the second part of test appearance which give the information to student about the test .. usually! in the identity! the test maker or teacher should put the main information of this test such as subject! day and date! code of the test :if any<! the class! and also the time allotment. #ot only that! but

the teacher also can put the blank place for information of name and student>s identity number especially for the test which the answers are unity with the item. And the analysis of identity for this test is good enough because the test maker input the name of student! the class! date! subject and duration :time allotment< clearly. $.1." Instr'2tion Instruction is the important part in the test because it is give the clear statement to inform the student how to do the test. The good instruction use simple words or sentence which can understood by student. The Instruction of this test divided into 5 part because there are 5 type of items. ;art A is multiple choice! part ' is matching! and part 7 is True%8alse items. 2hich the instruction of each part is @ BA. .(oose t(e .orre2t Ans:er@A for part A BB. It is clear enough and the student can understand about what should they do to answer the ?uestion. Even though the student have limited vocabulary! the kind of instruction we use as simple as possible so that the student can understand the meaning and train the student to comprehened the english instruction.

$.1.! T(e Font 8ont is a important thing in writing the test. 'ecause when the writer write this test! they should use the similar font and si e so that the test structured consistently and orderly. The analysis of font in this test is good. This test use the similar font! Times New Roman! and similar si e of font for every word and letter in the whole of items. $.1.< T(e Dritin3 As7e2t The last surface analysis is writing aspect. The writing aspect should be note for the test items because it will influence the comprehension of student. #ot only that! but it also influence the knowledge and the assumption of student if there are writing mistaken in the test items. The writing aspect of this test actually is good enough but there is mistake in writing the item for number C because between the item and the reading te=t is not appropriate.
