COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed as a survey of the major psychological theories on human personality and the application of each theory. This subject supports students to build further on their undergraduate study of theories of personality and accomplish significant understanding of the relevance of those theories in the professional work. The applicability of personality theories to counseling and psychotherapy is studied and students are encouraged to articulate their own personality theory and rationale. COURE OBJECTIVES: By the end of the course, the students will be able to: 1. Acquire a deeper understanding of how personality originates, develops, and functions from a broader perspective. 2. Assess interventions based on each theory. 3. Critically analyze how theory and empirical data might eventually be integrated into a grand explanation of human behavior. 4. Motivate intellectual interest and a sensitive sense of speculation about the endowment of being a person in a community with others. Unit 1. Basic Concepts and Issues on Personality A.
