Ivan Oseguera Period 1 Job Interview For my job interview I decided to interview my sister in law, Anahi Rangel.

She is a certified 8th grade Geometry Professor. During the interview I found out some background information on Ms. Rangel. She is in her first year of teaching and it is shown that she is dedicated. For example, in one of the question I asked her, she stated she works 3.5 hours overtime every day. This shows she is a hard working lady. I asked a verity of questions to help get an understanding of what it takes to become a teacher and to just get a better idea of it all. Ms. Rangel was inspired to be a Geometry teacher since junior high because she has always been good at math. She gained little of teaching experience by being a teacher assistant her early years of college. She then added that her career requires a Bachelors degree of Science in Mathematics. It is her desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. The teacher acts as guide, allows natural curiosity, and promotes respect for all people. Throughout the interview, I was impressed with Ms. Rangels honesty. She didnt sugar coat any of her information. She was very detailed with her struggles; having to deal with discipline, parents, and many other aspects of education. I dont see myself pursuing this career at all. I respect her for all her effort in persuading her career. Through the interview I made many observations. Ms. Rangel has certainly inspired me to follow my heart to the absolute fullest and greet each day with honesty. I really wanted to be a teacher not a math teacher but a teacher, after this interview I dont think I want to be a teacher anymore. I dont think I can handle that much work. Despite that I would rather work out door then indoor I just get more tasks completed and it makes me feel more comfortable and confident. Also I decided to do my job shadow with Ms. Rangel because she is very intelligent when it comes to mathematics. Math is my weakest subject and it gives me really hard times. By doing this interview, it allowed me to approach her one step closer to ask

her for tutoring sessions on her free times, she agreed. It is all thanks to her that I will pass my geometry class this year and be able to graduate with my class. I have to admit Ms. Rangel made the lessons a lot easier to understand and she worked with me one on one for a better understanding when I was having trouble with problems. After the interview she was quick to realize that this job wasnt for me because of all the funny face gestures I would do at certain points of the interview. I agreed with her because as I stated before working a lot indoor is not me at all. Over time I will get frustrated and eventually end up quitting or giving up. I like to work out door where I have a ton of freedom for me to explore while working. The sound of nature calms me down when Im having a bad day and therefore it allows me to do the job correctly. To be a teacher it requires a lot of time and being honest I really dont think I can manage to give all the time that is required. A teacher handles a lot of stress, and I will not be able to handle that much I know over time I will explode and state phrases to students that isnt professional and can end up putting my job in danger. Therefore I will not become a teacher anymore. I will persuade my second career in being an underwater welder.
