Early Marriage in University: Pros and Cons

In this article, we are focusing in early marriage between 18-25 years old. As we can see that the trend marrying while still studying in higher education were widely practiced by most of the student. Some of them were married before starting their higher education learning, some of them was married while still in the middle of higher education year. Even though early marriage is seems normal for certain individual, they might facing some pros and cons due to the marriage life. So here, we will discuss about the pros and cons from early marriage life in university. We also will talk some of the causes that might lead to the early marriage. Based on Park University study in early marriage, a person who might had experience with unloving family will able to escape from it and able to create more positive family by leaving with their partner. It is because they will experience in how to create a better family by themselves. The study also mention that by marrying young, it is the best option for someone who are disadvantaged with respect to family income, parental education and structure, mother and child bonding, verbal ability, school attachment and delinquent behavior. They also mention that it was a productive option for young people for the meantime. According another study from Ukraine, early marriage is mostly because of love and not based on money. To prevent the feeling of regret by not able to married with your love, you should get married. It is because sometimes when they are married without love, it will end with divorce. Besides that, marriage makes people change to be more independent and responsible for each other. They will start to think more seriously about their life and plan their future together. Since they have another priorities compared to single young people who still experience a leisure life. Another benefit of early marriage is to be able start having children. It is because there were some concerns about ecological problems where pollution might influence our health and it is might hard for some people to have healthy children. Another benefits mention by Muhammad Firwan Norliza, The President of Students Representative Council in International Islamic University Malaysia Year 2009/2010, marriage while studying is able to motivate them. It is because they will feel the need to be more responsible and mature in their decisions, either in learning or family. He also believed that the student life more organized and structured in terms of times and activities. This is because they need to give priority for more important matters in their life. And the most important thing is, by marriage early, the young people will restrain themselves from involved in immoral activities and committing sins which are happened in public and private higher education institutions nowadays.

Cons The challenge on the other hand is to bear the financial constraints for studies and family needs. This matter needs a thorough and detailed planning because failure in solving this problem may cause a stop in learning. The presence of children in situations where they are not yet ready may sometimes give them

problems and challenges. Therefore, careful and mature planning is necessary to avoid any problems arising. Marriage in the age and condition of not having yet fully matured can cause a divorce to occur.
