Job Description: Opportunity for an ambitious and motivated GIS expert to project manage the development of an asset and data management system in coordination with the groups CAD Coordinator and Director. The goal will be to create systems for tracking assets related to NYCDOTs street designs that in particular affect geometry, roadway str iping, new safety treatments and maintenance of roadway markings. The project will determine and refine the data input process for quality assurance to achieve good quality control and meet other business needs. The selected candidate should be a high level GIS administrator and power user. The candidate will research best practices, collaborate with end users, define needs and develop a work program within an urgent timeframe. Two overarching benefits will be: (a) DOTs ability to track and plan roadwa y striping maintenance, allowing for an analytic approach to quality materials, installation technique, production capacity & contractor performance as well as unique characteristics affecting various street types, (b) DOTs ability to map improvement plan s as all roadway redesigns go through the Highway Design & Construction office that this unit serves. It will also save resources and create synergies by allowing planners to better coordinate with past, present and future projects at study locations. The selected candidate must be interested in collaborating with other units throughout the agency and private sector such as the Office of Information Technology, planning units, consultants, etc. This project manager should also be an exceptional teacher/trainer able to communicate new procedures to agency engineers, planners and others. The candidate should be an expert in ArcGIS and have excellent verbal skills. In order to be considered for Associate Project Manager II, candidate must be a permanent Associate Project Manager I or II. Minimum Qualification Requirements: One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either: 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college education and/or experience described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration; (b) a Masters degree from an accredited university in one of the disciplines described in "1" above; or (c) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Registered Landscape Architect.

Experience which is primarily of a design nature is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements. Assignment Level II Special Requirements: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least one additional year of experience as described in "1" above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project. Preferred Skills: Expertise in GIS.
